I can't be sure this is ST, but ever since I downloaded the game, every few days my phone slows to a crawl, and I have to go into recovery and wipe the cache and Dalvik cache to get it working normally again. I'm running Burnt Droid on an Evo 4G, for what it's worth, though I want to move to CyanogenMod once I get the time to.

Ive been experiencing something similar with my Sprint Intercept. Instead of slowing down however, the thing starts vibrating non-stop. Locking the screen and unlocking will sometimes get rid of it, but I also have to manual resist it sometimes and is REally getting me angry.

I have no way to support or test with all these custom ROMs. I have looked at the source code of several of them ...
Simmer -- ST RPG does not have permissions to make your phone vibrate.
ST RPG does not do dynamic Dalvik generation and it should not have powers over OS level features -- ST RPG does not have ANY permissions. If ST is doing stuff to the OS then the OS has a bug because ST shouldn't have the permissions to to anything naughty!
Please check out ST RPG in the Manage Applications page and see that it uses 0.00B of cache. It should also say no permissions. If you see that ST RPG has permissions then something is wrong.

@cory, you have written such a clean Android app! There are so many greedy, intrusive and downright scary apps out there. Your app should win some kind of prize for being so minimalist in privileges, it's practically Zen.

Agreed. I wish there were more Apps that don't need permissions!
For all rooted users out there (or looking for a reason to root), the combo of AdFree Android, Autostarts, and DroidWall blocks most of the scary or annoying permissions from transmitting your info to thier creators (or sending you ads/spam). This is why I rooted! If there were more developers out there like Cory, I might not of gone to the trouble.
(Rooting has other perks too. And is much faster and easier now.)

Rooting also voids the warrenty, the one reason I wont. I can't afford a new phone if this one goes.

ehkamp -- Yikes! As a developer these invasive application environments scare me as they represent the fragmentation of Android OS versions. PC developers (game devs in particular) often struggle with new security, virus scanner and anti-Xware in the PC platform and I see a future for Android that includes those same challenges. As a user, I am glad that we have the choice to run the applications we purchase any which way we want. I am also glad that havocme has his option as well -- and simply chooses to install or not install an application based on the permissions required. As a "maker of games" I am sad for other developers who have created things the player does not trust! I would be sad if anyone said "I like your game, but I need to run AdFree Android, Autostarts, and DroidWall to make it trustworthy."

My next game may require a permission, so hold on to your hats: "VIBRATE" Yes, that is right ... I want to be able to make your phone rumble. There will be an option to turn off the rumble in-game, but I need the permission either way. ehkamp -- do you have "DroidGoodVibrations" that application that blocks vibrations?

So radiation storms will feel like speed bumps? Vibrating for every hit in combat will hose battery life, but when the hull ruptures and sails rip, I want to know it!

@cory: I so, so, so wish that there were more developers like you! Then I wouldn't of had to root (with the required hassle and risks). As a physician, I work in a world where confidentiality is paramount. So I trust no software (phone or PC) that requires Internet permissions. Who knows what data it is mining from my phone and providing to the world? Simple solution, everything that wants internet access must be White Listed by the firewall. Anything that I want to have internet access (e.g., a Browser) has to have no unnecessary, intrusive permissions or have a trustworthy developer. I don't worry about permissions like vibrate. Actually, I'd love to have it triggered by SFX sounds when the phone is in Vibrate mode!!!! I miss the SFX (particularly the Combat SFX) when I play in quiet environments!

Vibration when you purchase spice for the crew? When you lose crew to entertainers?
