Twice now I've been in combat, suffered almost no damage, reduced the enemy ship some, then decided to board and immediately got defeated because of my HULL being gone, despite the turn report saying I inflicted damage on the other ship and they missed. This time the enemy captain was the Kraken, so maybe it's a special case, but last time it was an ordinary capture commission. Turn 12: Everything's fine. Turn 13: Boarded... and I'm dead. If the enemy captain destroyed my boarding party, then it's incorrectly reported. If the report is correct, then how did I get killed? MY stats: Sailing 10, Commanding 13, Navigating 7, Fencing 7 Attachments:

I noticed this too. While dueling, enemy ship pounds you with broadsides as well.

I'm guessing Powder Magazine was hit ... but we will figure it out!

This is same issue as what I reported on Google+ during the alpha. Maybe you can compare our reports/screenshots and figure out a pattern?
Just for reference, are there people out there who have no issues when boarding?

I've been adding fixes based on that report since it first came in, a few in 0.0.6, some in 0.0.7 and the rest in v0.2.1 I'm certainly not having any issues with my Swashbuckler's Captains and the sims are running OK ... they do die a fair bit, but that's kinda to be expected of 100K turn sims.

Found something in the logs we were working with athios and I may have figured it out. We'll have some improvement in the next release for sure.

Next release includes further balancing. I think we're getting a lot closer!

Next release includes further balancing. I think we're getting a lot closer! Was playing a little yesterday. It seems in 0.2.3 the problem is gone. Even at just 1 fencing against a larger crew enemy, I can get a successful board roll and do some damage. Still taking damage too of course, but it's not one-sided and catastrophic like before. I consider this fixed! Thanks for the update!

I have always thought that boarding is extremely broken personally :/ I avoid it like the plague since any captain I have dedicated to it always have massive problems no matter the scenario. It's just not a valid method of attack when other methods are so much more powerful with little to no risk to yourself lol

With a week into the release, we are working hard (and daily) to continuing balancing. We guarantee boarding (yaaar!) will be a fun and viable combat strategy if it isn't already with the right skills and upgrades.
