All through the game we are asked to be on the lookout for "Buckaneers" who will attempt to block our Commission. They do, too.
This word is generally spelled "Buccaneer". Misspelling or Intentional Change?
Hmm, I see them correctly called "Buccaneers" many places as well. So I am guessing repeated misspelling.

Heh, I'm sure it was Buccaneer in an earlier version. Maybe a search and replace gone wild?

Btw, since we're on the topic of Buccaneers...
(1) Aren't Buccaneers by definition Pirates? How come there are pacifist Buccaneer Merchants?? If they are the one supplying (illegal?) buccaneer towns, shouldn't they be smugglers instead?
(2) The text during encounters says Buccaneers do not recognize Papers from Nations, which is expected. But it also mentions that they have their own Letters of Marque. Doesn't seem to fit to me if they don't have any real governing structure. Don't the buccaneers just attack anyone at will? Or there are actual rules?

Or there are actual rules? Historically, Buccaneers were called Pirates by those they attacked, (the Spanish) because the Spanish didn't want to recognise them as a legal entity, subject to War Conventions, able to be ransomed, exchanged as prisoners of war, the whole bit. This doesn't mean that the Buccaneers saw themselves this way. Same thing happens today, though people whose governments are not recognised are called 'terrorists' not 'pirates'.

Check the Buccaneers' Wikipedia page, lots of interesting info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BuccaneerThe primary element we are basing our Buccaneer storylines is the lifestyle. "A hundred years before the French Revolution, the buccaneer companies were run on lines in which liberty, equality and fraternity were the rule" Anyway

I like that. So the "Pirates" faction would fit the more typical buccaneer description, while the "Buccaneers" are just independents. What about the "Corsair"? Will we be seeing more story on them?
