I just wish I could KEEP an alien ship when I manage to defeat them. They're big, got loooots of stuff and would be great to take to themed ship parties!

Eh, working as intended. =D
There's a reason why PC turn-based games have always had a quick save, quick reload feature. =D
I'm not the only person who would quick-reload to an earlier stage of combat in X-Com (or another game of your choice) when a party member got ganked.

Aliens have different shaped buttocks. You can't sit in the captain's chair.
X-Com! Represent!

The Aliens are actually the Ethereals from X-Com. That's why they take your crews apart.

I had noticed that with google maps, and it seemed to have multiple instances called "rate places" which I used to kill. However then I started noticing that my GPS would take up to 15 minutes to get a location on other apps, even after loading AGPS data, and refreshing GPS using another app. Only rebooting phone fixed it. I am wondering if that was related to killing the google maps & 'rate places' ... any ideas on that? I am using a ZTE blade on android 2.2, in Finland so it is relatively free of carrier apps and stuff. In theory, you're right: Android manages memory and kills apps that are no longer needed. It doesn't do this perfectly, however (I somehow have it kill an app I was keeping open in the background, so that it can free up memory), and there are a few apps out there that are badly programmed and don't die properly. I've personally found that Google Maps, even as a background process, will eat battery power like there's no tomorrow.
