I'm glad you're enjoying the challenge. The cool thing about challenges is playing in ways completely different to your typical modus operandi. I found it was really good in the fact I usually only do about 20 contracts during the life of my captains ... and that is only to soak up a little bit of the boring moments between solar wars or shortages

After a week of complaining bitterly, muttering to myself about Slayernz and his difficult idea (which means that I was enjoying myself thoroughly) my challenge is completed. THANK YOU Slayernz for such an enjoyable challenge. I suppose I should start talking to my husband again and not just grunting monosyllable replies! My results are: Apprentice Contractor: Ventatrix, a De Valtos Pirate. Achieved 100 contracts in 4720 turns making 1 961 851 credits and failing 8 contracts. Score: 5280 turns left x 2 =10 560 Contracts completed 100 = 5 000 Credits 1 961 851 = 1 960 Contracts failed 8 = minus 8 000 Total score: 9 520
Master Contractor: Paks, Star Trader. Finished 68 contracts, failed 11. Score 0

My results are in as well, but I didn't fare anywhere near as well. Died to an unlucky alien attack, couldn't escape unfortunately. Turns = The full 10,000 since I died , but when I finished off I was sitting at 3,655 turns played. Contracts completed = 75 x 50 = 3750 contracts failed = 7 (3 failed 4 expired) = 7000 Credits = $1,570,385 = 1,570 Total score = -1,680 Hahaha, I was in the running. I swear it! I don't think I could have won, but I wouldn't have had such a miserable score. Screenshots for posterity.

Totally forgot to post this, but great idea slayernz. I always have so much fun with the ST challenges. I think it's mainly because I don't play ST all that much unless there is a challenge. I always find myself thinking "Hey, I should play this again using (some new) strategy" while going through the challenge. Great fun, good challenge. Would play again!

Fenikso. Well spotted. It is called not using a calculator. Have edited my post.

Awesome results ... sure some of the contracts got away, Aliens ate a few of our captains, and let's face it, we didn't make a lot of friends with some of the factions with our indiscriminate acceptance of contracts. BUT ... we got the job done. We showed no hesitation when it came to pulling the trigger and exterminating with impartiality.
Long live the contractor!
Get your scores in and I'll compile them up. If you don't have time to finish today (I'm being lenient on the deadline because you haven't yet come into an urban area), you'll have to score up as though you used all 10,000 turns.

Okay, final results ... we have a clear winner with Lurker, veteran challenge competitor, with his Master Contractor captain! Note, Fenikso also wins bragging rights with the only successful Guildmaster Contractor! I can't believe he actually made it in one piece with ZERO contract failures!!! Lesleyr made a fantastic comeback with a different class of contractor ... going from a theoretical -5740 to 9521, an amazing 15,261 point improvement! Contractor | Class | Captain Name | Turns | Cash | Completed Contracts | Failures | SCORE | Lurker | Master | Johnny Carbo Jr. | 4025 | 303k | 100 | 2 | 15253 | Slayernz | Master | Merc | 7577 | 4,796k | 100 | 1 | 13642 | Athios | Master | Joey Jo-Jo Jr. Shabadoo | 5271 | 2,952k | 100 | 4 | 13410 | Fenikso | Guildmaster | Contractor VIII | 8175 | 2,281k | 100 | 0 | 10931 | Lesleyr | Apprentice | Ventatrix | 4720 | 1,961k | 100 | 8 | 9521 | Johndramey | Master | Philip DeKargo | 10000* | 1,570k | 75 | 7 | 0 | Triedge | Apprentice | ? | 10000* | 0k | 15 | 5 | 0 | Lesleyr | Master | ? | 10000* | 860k | 68 | 10 | 0 |
*10k turns for scoring purposes Let me know if I missed your score. The scores were calculated using Excel, so there may be subtle differences to what you wrote up. For example, Lurker, you marked you had 3 failures, but according to your screenshots, you only had 2. As such, you got a higher score than you had documented (as if you needed it) Thanks everyone for participating in the August challenge. Looking forward to the next one (whatever it may be)!

slayernz, thanks again for organizing the challenge it was lots of fun and, as in most of these, challenged me to do some new things and learn some new things that I wouldn't have otherwise.
