We all do this... (maybe some smarter ones don't...)
Take Mission Go to galaxy screen See which direction arrow is pointed try to find the end point continue to try and find end point look some more. THERE IT IS! double click it, and off we go...
My suggestion: add a button to head to waypoint. Possibly inside the captain status screen... This would: 1. Exit back to the galaxy view 2. Treat as if we had double clicked the waypoint.

I want to agree with this, by the gods I do....but in my heart of hearts I feel that part of the game is knowing the world well and it seems like it would cheapen it by letting us be lazy and not need to memorize the map. Part of being a good captain is knowing the map, and in game terms it essentially only saves time since waypoint WILL get you there with rumours or missions. I have mixed feelings here. I'm going to hold out on giving a firm opinion on this until we see if the map ever expands or if we see random maps. Would it make the game less of a hassle? Yep. Would it strip some depth from playing it....yep.

I am working on this button. I have coded it many times but you would be surprised you hard it is to make it REALLY work correctly.

How about guide numbers at the edge of the screen? At the very least, I could stop long pressing (and accidentally going to) a sector for coordinates to figure out which way to the waypoint.
Center on Waypoint might also work.

On the main screen (not galactic map), you have the waypoint direction at the top of the screen: 113.32AE Water-Fuel 23.5 (-6,10) | SE to (20,20) 26AU
So you know it's South-East of your position 26 AU away. I wonder if it would be as easy as having that detail on top of the galactic map? That way you can roughly guide yourself to the target destination

Also, you should call it the "Center on Waypoint Button, from the mind of oldalchemist."

Then you'd need to add two more buttons: "Center on active Contract" "Center on nearest hat" Actually, for general movement, I would love to have the option to track the ship movement on the main screen (basically "continually center on ship during movement"). I forget how many times I set a destination for me to move from A to B, where B is like 10+AU away, and I watch my ship fly off screen and move in some obscure manner. Sure I could scroll the screen to follow my ship, but surely it would be a good thing for you to not have to do that

Slayer: I did have a scroll with ship thing working, sorta. It had problems. I will try again.
I like the two center buttons

Now if we could have hazards marked on the main map and the ability to have multiple waypoints and an in-flight movie...

Now if we could have hazards marked on the main map and the ability to have multiple waypoints and an in-flight movie... Hear hear! I dislike blundering into radiation storms I already knew about because my bloody Navigator had his face in his Neo-Kindle reading about the plight of the Syndicate Founders.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Records get picked up when you get searched.
"Hey, this isn't Hat Fancy! You've just hidden an alien IKEA catalog inside the cover of a copy of Hat Fancy! Scuttle the whole vessel. It's infested."

Would it be possible to display the whole course plotted in the main map, not just the next square? Sometimes the route finding is not so cool or it would be nice to go part way on route. It would also be nice to have all contract waypoints shown on the main map and get rumor information as someone else mentioned.
Maybe the automatic travel to waypoint could be implemented on the zoom screen as an extra button next to plot course, for those who like to drive looking at the map and not the road!
