I have one!
You notice strange shapes in the water below. If you cast over some nets, you could pull them up to investigate, but be warned, there is no telling what it could be.
This could result in
A) Damaged cargo boxes were recovered from the depths with [random loot] inside! B) Some fish! Food for the next few days! C) Nothing, just some driftwood and lost time. D) A Kracken's tentacle! All crew to battle stations! The beast is upon us! [starts Kracken fight at boarding range and Kracken gets a combat boost for a few turns]

For the upgrade-aware encounters- Barracks Conversion should lead to more fights onboard, if the captain's Intimate and Commanding aren't high enough... Nobody wants to just be stuffed into those close quarters, so their captain better be able to handle it!

I was just thinking again today how well these new encounters would work with leveling up crew members due to experience/time on the ship/promotions. A knight (for example) with very experienced crews would suffer less of these deviant behaviors, and could provide an interesting workaround to relying solely on captain attributes.
I know I had brought it up before, and it's unlikely atm but still something I would really love to see...
Along the same lines, will there be any influence exerted by officers recruited by the captain? If Gilda Fenn (for example) is on board as a commanding officer, wouldn't she report any discontent among the crew, or deal with issues herself? I would think it prudent that the officers would have some effect on these encounters, and this would provide incentive to get them aboard your vessel more than the passive effects they currently exert.

En1gma - adding Officer-specific encounters is on our list ... "Sailor offends Galda Fenn ..."
