Ok, so I am into round #1892 of space combat with a Level 46 Independent Bounty Hunter in his Night Vector ship. Neither of us has managed to land one shot on the other, and I am unable to retreat.
I was cruising around in a brand new Flagship Cruiser that I had just bought, trying to find upgrades for it. So far, I have only upgraded the sails with the +25% upgrade.
I am on difficulty crazy, and just collecting ships and upgrading them while I slowly level myself up to level 50 before my planned blockading the crap out of DeValtos to earn my Dark Nemesis achievement.
So here I am fighting this mercenary independent jerk that can't hit me. I can't hit him either, and I can't seem to manage to retreat either. I am something like level 38 spy, with 60 in pilot, something like 55 in stealth, and I think 35 in tactics. I can't hit him, he can't hit me. It is a stalemate.
Cory, can there please be a point where the NPC bounty hunters finally get bored or frustrated and give up? I sure as hell don't want to risk surrendering to him and getting killed for a game over, when he can't even hurt me.

This is a problem with the game. This post of sadness will inspire a prompt fix. Space battles should not last so long, there should be a limit

Ramming didn't work. I tried alternating guns and torpedos based on range for a few hundred rounds, and neither of us ever got hit. I finally surrendered after round 3,500+, and got off light with a short period of incarceration. I'm thankful that it didn't game over me, or I would have been irked. Thanks for listening Cory!

Alright, so I am in one of these situations again. It is on Impossible difficulty, with my Spy, James Bond. He is level 29, and in combat with a level 58 Javat Pirate. We are into combat round #1196, and so far we have only managed to ram each other twice, with minimal damage. Guns and Torps miss completely, and the bastard won't let me retreat. Other than that single mutual ramming, we are stuck in a stalemate.
Edit: Nevermind, round 1511 and I finally managed to retreat!

How about if you and your opponent are stuck in stale mate, after 500 turns, you both get caught in a quantum flux temporal ripple that propels both of you up to 5AU in a random direction, listening to Kenny G, and wearing different hats.

Well, I just verified the new combat timer works! Round 1002, and the fight ended! Lol, of course it would work for the first time when I am actually nearly killing the bastard after a long, hard fight!
