Prologue: I think this is a terrific game and Cory has engendered a great community here with his responsiveness and dialog. Kudos to the brothers!
The google license check is really annoying. Like all DRM, it tends to prevent legitimate users from accessing the product. Unlike alternative schemes (EA, iTunes, etc.), few users even notice it.
Unfortunately, the license check has locked my phone once and prevented me from starting the game on a daily basis. When the modem registers a connection with outpace, but is actually fluctuating between states (3g, edge, etc) the communication can't happen and there is no way for the user to trigger a refresh and reattempt. As such, the game gets locked up (as intended). Living with bad reception, whenever I forget andforget, try to load, and get stuck on the verification.
It doesn't seem to be my kernel, or my phone's modem, because I have tried several
proposal: could you ditch the license check? Or, alternatively, decrease the check frequency (once a day, once a week, random unless last check failed and then intentionally lock the phone and auction off the miscreant's children. workarounds: turn on flight mode and restart the game. Other than when my whole phone locked up, this is merely an annoyance, but a regular one!
testing : happens under several roms for the captivate, various kernels, etc. doesn't happen with a solid network.
Thoughts?

I think there was a similar thread about this and it has to do with google. Not the trese brothers.

According to the Google LVL documentation, the cache window will be increased to a week or more after several successful attempts.
I have had over[/li][li] 300 e-mail conversations about this EXACT topic with players (some who play ST RPG from the Gulf of Mexico, station on oil platforms, brave bastards.)
The Google LVL process should be vastly reduced (to where it doesn't bother you) after about 1 week of game ownership. Right now I am operating at 298 happy out of 300. 2 people were never able to get LVL to work and I refunded them approximately 30 days after purchase.
I do not really want to ditch the license check. At least right now you have to run a simple crack to pirate ST RPG (which people do, a lot more than you might think for a $2 game.)
[/li][li] I am pretty sure it is over 300 but I have 300 emails tagged with LVL in gmail, I probably missed some. Only 2 of the LVL emails are also tagged with Refund the rest are tagged with Solved.

Well, the problem isn't so bad that I want to uninstall and request a refund. Still, I have yet to encounter this mysterious lvl cache, and I have owned the game for more than a month. I will look at the docs and see what I can find through adb. I am using a captivate-did the two who never properly cached also use a samsung galaxy s?
Thanks for the clarification, Cory! (and apologies if you answered this again... I didn't see a previous thread).
Re: pirating, I understand your desire to protect your ip, and you certainly deserve to be compensated! But, as you said, the lvl is easily broken by those who want to pirate, while those of us who want to pay for quality programs end up risking frustration. This is a conversation to be had with drinks not online through...
