They should add wookie art for the first mate if named as such. Sent from my Huawei u8650 using proboards Yes, on so many levels YES. And if this transfers to CK, I want Ewoks and Jar-Jar Binks clones as mutant dogs and thugger footmen. Mwahahahahhaa...

They should add wookie art for the first mate if named as such. Hell, why not just have special artwork if name as such. For example, an R2-series astromech droid artwork for a mechanic.

If you name your captain Han Solo, you get the option to jettison your restricted goods prior to boarding resulting in zero RP loss (and total restricted goods loss). of course, then you are pursued from one end of the galaxy to the other by Jabba ... And that would be......bad? As long you get the bonus of shooting first Im good with it. Until the Lucas syndicate comes after you.

This is Star Traders -- not Star Trek or whatever you guys are talking about.
If you come up with some cool Star Traders ideas I would be happy to put them in.
Han Solo is not exciting at all -- but I'm open to suggestions that are!

I will come back with original and entertaining ideas when I think of them. Although this does remind me of when my folks wanted to take me to a Star Wars convention only to take me to a Star Trek convention... (Idea coming!) Would you consider a crossover from CK in, say, an escort storyline?

Oh oh oh ... Captain name anything with " Cat " in it (note separate word, not "catastrophy" or "concatenate") will give you a picture of the First Cat as your First Mate ...
but don't you DARE consider dismissing him if you value your fingers ...

It would be neat to see more crossover activities between templar and ST. One mission in TA uses the Exo scout- would be neat if you could do business with reps from the Fleet. Even if they were self sufficient nomads with little need for normal trade items- one thing I know they would need for their artifact gathering operations is intelligence gathering. That means records and spies. If they keep track of the factions for other reasons, they most likely have a network or intelligence arm made up of both shendu blood and those recruited from key faction positions.

I did mention in joking once that a Captain named Vega would start you with a Templar officer instead of a First Mate. Perhaps he would also have a higher percentage chance of running into aliens. That seems realistic and within the world ST/TA.
There are also all of the princes' names that could be used for special "cheats." As for other names, the Histories speak often of the Prophet Ardok Shalun and there's an assassin named Remcoole. Two heros of the family Thulun are Cragen (who fought alongside Ardok at Farfallen Breach) and Sarah (who cast the deciding vote at the council of Dallix). Then there are the monks of Hardoss, from which the Zendu and Templars descended. There is also one known as Alfaan, though who and what he is, is not entirely clear, perhaps The Maker himself. And we should not forget Degala (or is it DeGala) the scholar.
Edit: I forgot Captain Reller from TA. And what about naming a ship the Dark Rain?

My original suggestion was to have elites from each house, with special ships and cargo. That may have been in a different post, but the intent was the same here. Han Solo is to exciting....well he was in the 80s lol now hes a military officer sending children to fight insect invaders.

How can we have Spice without sandworms?
Something along the line of stillsuits (though not named that, for copyright reasons) might be a useful upgrade. Possible improvements would be to either 1) reduce water consumption while in space or 2) improve crew survivability on-planet. One or the other. Both would be a little too uber, don't you think?
Also ,
Just now looking at templar assault -- why is it we never encounter the Templar navy in star traders? We encounter aliens. Presumably the templar navy is powerful enough to prevent steel song being wiped out by the combined might of the other factions, but we never encounter them. We encounter their personnel and sometimes their ships, but never the *faction* as such.
I'd like to see the templar navy as an actual faction without bases. Do enough missions of the right type and you'll be approached by agents, first indirectly through false-flag ops, then later upgraded to first meeting them directly, than full member status if you're willing to co-operate. And the reverse is true: Doing too much of the wrong thing invokes the wrath of templar, and it should make captains who don't blink at insane difficulty tremble in their boots at the thought of being hunted across the quadrant by the most powerful, fanatical, and ruthless force in known space.
Respectfully,
Brian P.

That's terrible, there aren't Templars constantly serching the secret holds of every villianous, piratical Star Trader wreck? Only playing Templar Assault, the only Star Traders I know about are smuggling aliens, recently eaten by aliens, destroyed by Narvidians, Xeno/Narvidian cultists, or smuggling forbidden technologies likely to attract xenos and or Narvidians. My theory is that when some crew member inevitably starts tinkering with that "innocent" ancient cleaning bot and gets it working, its second hundred picoseconds of existance are entirely dedicated to broadcasting Narvidian distress signals, which sadly the retched xeno can also detect. Obviously the best solution to the Narvidian menace is to immediately eliminate all Star Traders known or suspected of being associated with or related to known or suspected artifact traders. Sadly that means most of you. Incidentally, I'd totally buy a "Templar Assault II: Pax Shalun!" feature parity content rebrand. Some of my favorite levels involve splashing non-compliant pirates and smugglers. Fifty famous Star Trader ships, filled with human scum and Narvidian cultists, orbital parking ordinance violators, with a good sprinkling of their alian and machine friends? Quite a fight, I bet, on a Narvidian Cultist Slayernz Cruiser! P.s., I'd rather have the '+5 Ammo Bonus Secret', please! It's hard out here, on a forum filled with "innocent" "Star Traders" who pride themselves on quickly locating Xenos, teaching others to do the same under the very eye of Shalun. To what purpose, hmm? Shalun and Cory Trese alone know, but their holds will be searched!

Lt. Hathaway, great post. There does seem to be great discrepancies between the realties or ST and TA. There have been times when I've flown around with 50 artifacts in hold for years and never so much as been approached by a templar ship. Fewer times I've packed hundreds of artifacts on my ships during a shortage or a surplus of them to really rake in the credits. Nothing from the Templar fleet. Granted, most of the time I am licensed and often have a Templar officer on board, but still you would think I would at least have to spend a lot more time filling out paper-work and having it all inspected.

Ah, yes, ST "Templar Officers." My theory on them is that a tiny percentage of mentally challenged but physically healthy Templars are born in every generation. Otherwise, they're traitors, and that's less believable than Templars not even suitable for Hydra (flamethrower) duty. I feel like I read somewhere that there was a Templar Fleet split; perhaps TA Templars aren't ST "Templars" at all? If there were a TA content spinoff, the slight chance of a Templar traitor in armor to kill would be especially sweet. Oh, and from what I've heard, most of the factions need a good trim. I'll stop hijacking your thread now
