Thinking about it, it seems like I read the TA encounter planets are at the edge of an old paper map of the quadrant but never made it into ST. A Trese reposed about the Templar split on the Facebook page, so I'll watch there for answers

Lt. Hathaway - the Templar Fleet and command accepted, eventually, that the Star Traders were slowing progress of the exodus and finally, stopping in the Quadrant as it is now. At that point, under single direction, the majority of the military force spread out to secure the new zone against the constant incursion of xenos and other threats.

Except, I suppose, the rare but nasty surprises lurking around to prey on any adventurer getting to big for his/her/its boots. Like a space-yard bully.

Once again sorry for the hijack, but fallen are the Templar Assault Templars the same ones ST players hire? (As far as the TA repack, I bet you could put a TileD for TA YouTube vid up, crowdsource the content, and we'd most of us pay full price, cheerfully, with Cory just applying the same updates to both apks. I promise to stop now, and restart in the correct forum.) Officer Genious Please refer to my previous post about the sort of Star Traders who loot forbidden relics from proscribed ruins, or transport them in the thousands, and what naturally happens to them. The Templars have to clean the aliens off those ships you ride out of in an escape pod.

Oh yeah I just meant that aliens are also prone to blowing up ships, especially if star traders are unlucky and unprepared.

Yes, it actually takes far more preparation as a Star Trader to face off against the Alien than it does as a Templar and you're far more likely to lose everything. Templar's are specialists. A few Star Traders become so enamored with Aliens that they eventually develop the skills, crew and ship to go and fight them, without Templar armor. Lt. Hathaway, defeating whole Alien and Narvidian ships is really a pretty big rush. Not the constant joy of slaying that's found in TA but the odd encounter that is always moments away from the death of a captain you have spent days and weeks building up.

Lt. Hathaway - yes, the Templar officer you can hire in Star Traders is a true Templar from the venerable order. Same powerful Xendu warriors you control in Templar Assault.

It's important to note though that the templar assault campaigns are typically set in the years just following the exodus ... within the first 3 decades or so. That's well before your captain's birth date. Obviously the templar order continues to defend the fringes but are under constant pressure as they are spread thin.
Major Problem, a decorated officer in the templar order was once asked the question of why there were still incursion from xenos in colony space and his response was "it's a big ass amount of space out there and the templar order is losing soldiers faster than we can recruit. Being a templar seems to be less popular than being a smuggler ... or pirate. I say we bring back the draft".
