You'll see a read toast with a cryptic message and one other place in the game it will respond if your character's name fits the requirements.

Ooh, a shiny new update with a shiny new ship. I don't suppose this name is one we should all know by now? =P

The bonus names are very appropriate to the game world, nothing that you'd have to learn off the forum or anything. One of six types of names you could use, depending on your new game options. Also, its not an exact match, its if a name includes the secret.
