See ... there is stupidity and then there is insane stupidity I like to think of myself as one of those wise stupid people.

What if we did a micro transaction that wasn't an award. That way no one would say "this award is too hard, you are just trying to make us pay extra!" Perhaps like "pay $0.99 for 3 new starting ship icons and a special background option" would that make me greedy? i want your $1

I'd rather pay a few bucks for the new game.
Also, icons, backgrounds, and other stuff are nice rewards for strange achievements that don't affect game balance.

I would have payed more for 'elite'. The free version was awesome. I haven't put my phone down since ( the missus hates me atm) I reckon if you want the rewards then earn them. Dont be slack.

Ehh my personal two cents? Microtransactions seem to be a slippery slope most quickly traversed by poor quality Korean RPGs and the EA Games Sims marketing division. Both, at separate times, have made me into a seething rage-filled monster. I'd honestly rather have you charge more outright in the Market for the actual game than go about a perceived nickel-and-dime rampage. (This is sincerely not meant as an insult, or meant to be seen as me doubting you, Cory. There's no evidence to say anything like this would be motivated by greed or would go horribly wrong, it's just for every example of good Microtransactions, there are about 4 terrible ones.)
That said, DLC is another matter entirely. I'm not sure how well set-up the Android Market is for creating DLC, but judging by the number of addons available for 'Dolphin Browser HD', it can be done, at least in some capacity. That's the road I'd personally rather see future games go down. People could get what content they wanted for either a flat rate per DLC or scaling by how much is included, a new faction or new quadrant, to use ST parlance, plus it'd open the door for massive new ST features after newer games come out. Plus It'd help keep the game from obsolescence from your Dev end if new content could be released for older games without having to take a net loss to do so.
