Cory Trese I meant for the Steel trilogy, not ST2 - unless you have some interesting TBF data collected? Plus it's hard to focus on something that isn't out yet hint hint

OK, you alpha dogs...SPILL !!! What's going on? ST2 Alpha is kind of like the bald guy's software... Here is how combat works: There seems to be 5 or 6 different ranges, as opposed to the 4 from ST1 (Zero, Close Medium, Long). Weapons won't work at certain ranges. For example, Torps only work at 4-5 range, and autocannons only work at 1-2 range. When it is on your turn in combat, you get a certain amount of "reactor points" to use. You can use all your points on movement or weapons, or split them between both. On your turn, you can also use a "talent". Talents are abilities that the Captain and Officers provide, which can provide various buffs that last a certain amount of turns. In every battle, the amount of times you can use a talent is dictated by the amount of crew that possess it. For example, if only one of your Officers knows a particular talent, it can only be used once per battle. Only one talent can be used per turn, and they don't require any action points to use. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I haven't experienced boarding combat yet, and can't tell you how it works.

I have to say I've been impressed by the combat - it's more engaging than I was expecting

I have to say I've been impressed by the combat - it's more engaging than I was expecting And it is still very simplistic. I'm sure when it is fully expanded we'll all be able to find fun ways to play.

So... Anyone else regretting not reading the reward list before buying in? Should have bought the next level for the alpha. Just went back to check which rewards I did buy. Turns out I could have been using some sweet officers this whole time. Been browsing through the alpha posts, and it seems the Bros have created quite the digital hit. Anyone willing to give me their copy of alpha? I'll give it back when I'm done with it, with only a few dings, maybe a scratch or two. Where's sheep #3? His password is always 1111 for everything.

Actually, for future KS I would cheerfully pay extra for a reward that let me give alpha access to some deserving souls that missed out for some reason. Maybe that is a good idea.

I think I upped my pledge (post-KS) twice - firstly to get Naming Rights and then upped it again a few weeks or so later to plump for alpha access. I think it was reading the early-days alpha posts about TBF that got me to commit.

I'll be honest, I just looked for the one that gave me two copies of the game. I think the KS was going just before I took my last contract. Just this week I inputted the special code for the unique officers, love the pirate btw, goes great with an MO and Bodyguard, and filled out the naming spreadsheet.
