Another point of interest for me in this type of games is saving i know, the game saves pratically everywhere, and it's nice; but what about multiple save slots per Game, or a quicksave option and so a quicksave slot and custom save game slots???

Slide87 - as with all of our games, we will not be adding save points that allow you to "branch" the game. The game is auto-saving.

is there ever going to be a backup option? ie to the cloud or somesuch? and what do you mean by branch?

mordeith - "branch" meaning save as multiple different games and reload. Start a game, save as "Checkpoint A" play a while save as "Checkpoint B", reload "Checkpoint A" play a while, save as "Checkpoint B2". Now you've got the same game start, but "branched" into two saves. Not something the Trese Brothers like in saved game setups. We keep looking for viable backup options and the time to implement them, but with so many markets and different approaches, we just aren't there yet.

The constant saving of the game is very comfortable, crashed once, and lost nothing. On computer a player could easily use the saves and quick backup to make branch and load back if he wants, so the current saves, constant and allowing quit at any time even during combats, is the maximum flexibility, not have saves inside the game just a detail.
For saves compatibility as soon as there's saves files compatibility between OS and devices, plus ways/tools to transfer, it's already a fair solution. For now only server oriented game can allow a sort of universal save among all devices, but that's a constant server cost. Perhaps Steam is on the road of covering all mobiles, all consoles, all computers and allowing a tool for cloud save among all those devices, but a game don't have to implement itself such solution.
For me cloud isn't working because cloud isn't 100% guaranteed. Just 0.01% cases it doesn't work is enough to make lost the confidence, and when saves start not be synchronized that's potentially huge troubles.

nolost - thanks for the feedback. This procedure has been a #1 request from our user base for the 4 years we have been in business, so many consider it critical.

nolost - thanks for the feedback. This procedure has been a #1 request from our user base for the 4 years we have been in business, so many consider it critical. Between PC and mobiles and ios??? Is there a single game without server system doing it? Ha well, beside one year of dedicating playing in the first ipad, I never played on any mobile and since then on any tablet, so my experience in that are is is very limited. For Steam pure PC/Mac players that play indie games, your game already fulfill the most important about saves, saves anywhere, saves compatibility. If your game become a little bit more popular on Steam, expect requests for the cloud support and probably even more for the achievements but not internal to the game, nope, Steam achievements. :-)

I'm hard at work on a cross-platform achievements engine that provides us a consistent experience with platform appropriate backends -- Google Play Games for Android, Game Circle for Kindles, Game Center for iOS/Mac OS X and Steam SDK for the releases on Steam.
You can definitely move games between platforms. FTL Advanced Edition got a tonne of press about this when people figured out how to do it, the procedure is the same for Heroes of Steel.

Not for me for the achievements, but seems a good idea if it's still not done. Will avoid the hassle for some indie dev to implement achievements in their game and get bashed when it's released on Steam. :-) For sharing saves between platforms, yeah manual solutions, but nothing more automatic.

For PC saves are located in "C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\HeroesOfSteel.win32", it takes only a moment to make a backup copy or to restore, allowing experimentation with builds.
