Yeah, "crunchy" usually just refers to a PnP game that has a heavier or more involved system. Lots of numbers, more dice, etc. Stuff that works great if you let a computer do all the lifting

I remember writing programs in BASIC to roll the dice for some of the DnD games I played with my friends. I have a love/hate relationship with number crunching. Spent a few nights up to late with formulas stuck in my head. Do you have visions of variables dancing in your head at night fallen?

@johnrobison - the analysis of the skill and Natural Mastery bonuses is good. A +1 Accuracy on a weapon adds one Strong Dice to the pool in the accuracy roll. A +1 Blade skill adds a standard dice to the accuracy roll. It goes like this ... Attribute (Str or Dex) = Standard Dice Skill = Standard Dice Weapon Accuracy = Strong Dice Accuracy Bonus from Active Talent = Strong Dice Accuracy Bonus from Elsewhere (gear, Buff) = Standard Dice Awesome information! Quick question though, what is a strong die and what is a standard die? Are strong dice like risk defense dice(win on ties)?

Let me try to wrap my head around this... Lets just say I've put 8 points into Vraes Blades skills, so my Accuracy roll has 8 Standard dice in it. Then I buff with "Natural Mastery 6" (+1 Melee Accuracy, +7 All Melee Skills). Is it then ADDING 8 more strong dice to the roll, or are my original dice just getting an upgrade to strong status. I guess Leadership and Lore skills are bumped up too then right because +All Melee Skills would also increase Lore and Leadership for a time. If I first buff with Natural mastery, then buff with Stone Skin, I would get a longer duration on my buff than if I had buffed with Stone skin first due to the lower lore skill? Crazy.

hollowpoints - you've got it wrong. 1) Natural Mastery increases melee combat skills only (Blades, Hammers, Spears). It does NOT increase Lore or Leadership - those don't sound like melee skills 2) Natural Mastery increases a Skill. So, you get +7 to your skill dice, so that's +7 Standard Dice. Note that your melee weapon skill is also used as standard dice in your defense roll. 3) When Natural Mastery starts adding +1 Melee Accuracy, it is adding a Standard dice (see the last group, "all other buffs"). This ONLY affects attack.

I have a long running Fallout PNP based off the "Unofficial" game put out by a Black Isle Studio Employee back before they crashed, though a few updates have come out along the years that I've also incorporated. The system is up there in my favorite PNP's of all time, but I would never ever consider running it without a Virtual Table Top. Some games just have too much math without one!
