Many of us have devices which allow for momentum scrolling - ie you flick your finger across the screen and the page (galaxy) continues to scroll even though finger is not on the screen. Is this an easy-do? (Although, this would be pointless if you added in a center on waypoint feature...)
Also, pinch-zoom would be fracking awesome.
Also, setting multiple waypoints/order waypoints are set once the current one is reached (a la destinations via, say, google maps). For example: Player has 5 contracts. Looks at zoom map - pinches to zoom out, picks out all 5 waypoints in the most efficient order, and away we go!

Supporting the Android onFling() method (which is probably what you think of as momentum scrolling) is not a device requirement, it is really up to the developer to support or not support this in the drawing surface.
The drawing surface (space map) in Star Traders is a rudimentary implementation which, while functional, lacks many of the nice features that will be found in later games.
CyberKnights, for example, supports flick/fling scrolling and zoom in/zoom out and a host of other touch and navigation features. As that second-generation drawing surface matures in the beta and CK release, I will be working to port those features back to Star Traders RPG.

The zoom map is of Narvidian technology and let's face it, we're just happy that it works and that we can get from A to B on it. Early versions of the interface always seemed to navigate you to the nearest alien-infested planet.
