ADSF to scroll around the map Cursor Keys to also scroll around the map F1 => talent 1 F2 => talent 2 F3 => talent 3 F4 => talent 4 F5 => Talent 5 F6 => Talent 6 Shift = zoom in Ctrl = zoom out tab = Center on party ~ = Glom/Unglom Enter = End turn 1 = Warrior 2 = Magician 3 = Healer 4 = Stealth C = Current Character - Equipment X = Current Character - XP E = Current Character - Effects Esc = Back/Pause menu
Mouse Wheel = map zoom Left Click = Action Right Click = Talent List Maaaybe right-click+mouse wheel = Talent scroll up/down
Note ... Last combat talent stays in place until you choose otherwise. That way you don't always have to select a particular attack at the beginning of each round. You right-click to select a different attack if you choose to.

Like some of slayernz suggestions. F keys for talent selection for sure. 1-4 for character selection is also good WASD for movement on the map. Q/E for quick potion quaff with whatever potion you've set up as your "quickie" in two slots. I = Inventory screen C = Character Screen X = Character Effects L = Quest Log M = Mini-map/map when available Enter = End turn Things I'd like to see.. Two keys to move back and forth between the character sheets (Statistics,XP,Effects,Equipment,Talent) with 1-4 being used to switch between the characters. Could likely juse use A/D from WASD when in those screens. Definitely, definitely, if possible have it setup to allow your own keybinding though. Nothing more irritating for a PC player. (Except straight to ports with bad resolution/console ui)

Pretty sure I'd have to try it out to come to a reasonable decision, but I'd probably want to play with right hand on the mouse and left hand on the keyboard. The ability to remap shortcuts would be pretty much essential, as Karjus said.

Thanks for all the feedback. Very useful set of suggestions, I'll work on merging them with the ones I've picked up over e-mail and my own plans to synthesize a set of solid shortcuts for the KickStarter-backers PC release.
I'm definitely planning to enhance the CC2d-x game engine to allow remapping shortcuts. That will be a great upgrade to the PC version if it proves worth supporting commercially.
I am not planning on adding keyboard based character movement.

You could have a cfg file in the game directory where power users could change the key bindings using a text editor. That way you don't have to waste time on adding a lot of UI stuff for changing keyboard bindings, and you don't have to worry about having bindings change AFTER the game is loaded up and running.

Great suggestion -- love that thinking. There are, of course, some challenges The OUYA doesn't support configuration files. Maybe out of the gate we'll have some schemes you can pick from -- like the Slayer, the Karjus and the Fallen

Couldn't disagree more on F keys for talent selection. The whole centerpiece of combat is talent selection, why on earth would you park those keys so far away from WASD?

Habit from using them in many a game, and having to make the most use of a keyboard for hotkeys as possible without a gaming mouse with past machines. Hence why I said make customizable if possible, because everyone is different for hotkeys especially with the ridiculous range of laptops/mice available now. But if there is no keyboard movement, then definitely easier to remap things to something like..
1-6 = talent selection qwer = character selection, or qw = character cycling and asdf = character selection.. or some combination.

Maybe consider moving Group/Ungroup to F, that way fingers can rest on the "home" keys of ASDF and just stretch for the talent list?

And Space to "next hero"

Cory Trese - I like that, as the preference should be given to combat keys. Having played -alot- on my laptop, once you're glommed and moving around, the keyboard is used much less. It's really during combat that the shortcuts make all the efficiency difference in the world.

I think I'm casting my vote in the "What Cory Trese has planned" camp. I like the lay out, and having "f" be cancel is a-ok in my book.
