Ok after way to long a break I've decided to start playing HoS again. Just starting new game on Nightmare and will be following basically the above builds and see how far I can get without dieing.

Ok just reached Oskahold with party. After fight at gates everyone is Lvl 6. Vraes 252HP (base without buffs) 90SP Attributes4 Dex 6 Con 10 Str 5 Will 3 Int 3 Know Skills8 Blades 3 Hammers 3 Polearms 1 Leadership 2 Lore TalentsCrushing Blow 3 Natural Mastery 2 Stone Skin 1 Savage Sweep 1 (never use this)I am seeing a lot of people expressing the opinion that Crushing Blow is the best main skill to go with for Vraes, and not to use Savage Sweep at all. I have found the exact opposite to be preferable because SS is far more accurate. It does not really matter how much damage you can do if you cannot land the hit. Especially in the higher difficulties, landing hits gets really tough and I dont want to waste my attack points much less my mana (good lord, why am I ALWAYS out of mana?!?) on missed hits. Lastly, it can really mess me up if I put off dealing the killing blow on a powerful monster to see if I get a lucky critical on other enemies, only to come back and miss at the end of a turn. Instant Regret. But if I am missing something important about Crushing Blow, please educate me.

Two curses my friend- Pinning Shot, and Choking Ash. These lower parry to the point that CB hits consistently. One or the other is always great, but the two used in conjunction make even Deathkin easy to hit. I love CB, and I haven't made a Savage Sweep Vraes in ages. This accuracy can be boosted even further by using Natural Mastery, Thundering Blades, or anything that increases accuracy.

z7sakari - depends a lot on the other factors at play. As En1gma said, if you can hit without the extra accuracy from SS, then CB is a big winner.

z7sakari Ckoking Ash and Punishing Blades will reduce the Armor so that those crushing blows or ferocity attacks are even more devestating meaning you'll need far fewer of them to kill opponents than you will with savage sweep. Biggest thing to remember though is to build a team as a unit. The more each hero can do to support the actions of others the more effective and efficient the whole group becomes.

Crushing Blow is my JAM! By JAM I mean Vraes JAMS his weapon into the faces of things, and they die miserably. If you aren't using Ash and/or Pinning Shot, then you should run Savage Sweep, other than that go with CB

Hmm, I use level 5 Choking Ash and still miss about 20% with Savage Sweep. Vraes is:
Level 23 Accuracy = 7 (from Savage Sweep) Weapon 5 Hammers 16 Strength 14 Bonus 3
And this is fighting the Fat Sac blue spiders who spawn the even Fatter green spiders in Temple of the Aracnid on Normal Difficulty.
Pinning Shot must be on a character I have not bought yet.

z7sakari Selen has Pinning Shot and I'd recommend her as the first IAP purchase for any HoS player as she is fantastic.

z7sakari, what level is Natural Mastery? Kyera's Ethereal Anguish reduces dodge, maybe that could help. I am trying to decide between CB and SS on my current build. At level 8 Vraes has Phalanx Shield 4 and Natural Mastery 1. Phalanx Shield is the focus for this build but I also want Vraes to be a damage dealer.
