What are you frying mirrors on your grill for?
I thought about the U-shaped fibers but then your ship doesn't get to act like a giant disco ball.

I'm trying to get the fat off of the mirrors after roasting chickens in my solar cooker!
I recant. I am totally in favor of a giant disco ball ship. That's no moon....it's DISCO INFERNO!

My "theory" (sound smart) about lasers: Lasers = better accuracy (target tracking) + heavier damage, but very expensive. Can overload engine cores if used too frequently due to high output demand (may need cooling time) Effective in mid to close range.
we can avoid this scenario Captain: we need to capture this fugitive, fire on the engines! Crew: Yes Captain. Captain: I said~ the engine... Great! we just lost a 90K contract. Somebody needs a timeout...Eject.
Force Fields are only effective against lasers. Armors are much less effective against lasers. Lasers/Force Field relation is same as guns/armor.
FF are online as long as enough engines are online. Optional during battle to use. Reduces ship's maneuverability due to engine demand.
Upgrade: laser's location is optional in the armament upgrade (prow, aft or omni tracking) FF are found in structural or propulsion upgrade.
