What does this mean Cory?
I am sure I am not the first person to ask this, but I haven't seen the answer yet, and it has been in the back of my mind, bugging me every time I get the award for unlocking it.
What does this bonus actually do? Decrease the cost of doctors?

IIRC it doesn't decrease the cost of the doctor. It decreases the amount of time that passes, after using the doctor, before you can use it again.
(hopefully I'm wrong, because I almost never use a given planet's doctor twice in a row because I believe in healing one wound at a time if possible, which would make the award kind of pointless to me)

I don't think that is it. Anytime I have wounds on a planet that has a doctor, the doctor has been available. The only planets that don't have them are independents.

I didn't know yhe docs suffered from overwork and a fear of extra profits by turning patients away. If the award does not decrease costs, does negotiation decrease it?
"Doc, i love you and I know you trained on Thulun Prime, but I can get this foot reattached for half price by a blind albino cadar surgeon for half price and a new medikit thrown in. I also get sexier scars to woo the women folk with my daring tales..."

I don't think negotiation reduces cost.
But I know Rep and Rank do.
(@tb: Try taking a captain with multiple wounds to a planet with a doctor, heal one, boost into orbit, then de-orbit back to port immediately. Check the doctor's availability in the Spice Hall. I suspect you'll find he's not available .. . . though I could be wrong.)

{edit} Hrmm, maybe it decreases the time it takes to heal a wound with a doctor if it's not decreasing the regen time for access to the doctor? {/edit}

You show up missing more parts and the doc realizes that he's going to be well served by having more of your parts growing ahead of time in the vats.
To me, this award means that the faction doctors have more compatible replacement ears on the shelf for you.

Which faction dr does it apply to? The one u got the unlock with? All faction docs? If its all, and independants do not have em, then saying faction dr regen bonus is unnecessary, and potentially confusing. Dr regen bonus 50%... remove faction and u have room for words that might help more... time/cost/co-pay/anesthetics

This award causes the "You are an excellent patient, almost no supplies were used!" toast. The Doctor is so happy with your amazing healing abilities (thank your spice habit) that he doesn't leave.
To those who, like Abs, heal one at a time this can allow a double (or even triple) one-off heal at the same Faction planet.
Award Misc Effects: - Reduce Time to Regenerate Doctor - 5% Increase in Discount Bonus for Rep - 35% Reduction in Doctor Healing Time Dice

Hell, I'm still trying to figure out how to unlock this to begin with. I know for a fact that I've been reduced to 1 wound before, but is it all in one combat, or what?

I don't think it's about where the wounds come from. I think it's just "heal eight or more wounds in one go with the doctor". So if you, like me, try to heal one wound at a time you may never see it.
(though I would totally heal all at once to get the reward.)

Why would u only heal one at a time, if u have multiple wounds?

Sebastian, reason for healing one at a time is to reduce the cost of healing. Unless you have a really strong standing with a particular faction (rep and perhaps rank as well ?? not to sure if both are included) then the price goes up for healing each wound if you have more than one. eg only have 1 wound and early game with only a little bit of rep is likely to be around $3000 to heal but same rep and same faction, but with 2 wounds the doctor will charge closer to $4000 to heal (per wound) and the price goes up for healing (per wound) the more wounds you have. If you have 5 or 6 wounds it can easily cost you $8000 or more to heal each and every wound if done in a single hit. So if you can heal one at a time the cost will go down for each subsequent wound - until that last wound only costs $3000 instead of the $8000 or more it would have cost if you did it in one hit while you had all of your 5 or 6 wounds. HateSolstice, absimiliard - is correct it doesn't matter about where you get them - you just let yourself get beat-up over time so you have 1 or 2 health left and then heal it all in one go - it costs more but you get the award - after recording the exploit of course - then the OP's question comes into play and you wonder what the hell it does - which Cory just explained in an earlier post on this thread. - Hope this helps.
