I also don't know for sure how I should be starting off my career as a military/bounty hunter captain. I assume contracts from the palace or outpost, but is doing bounty or search & destroy missions so early really worth it? They pay better than the message delivery or transport missions, but they're cause for getting your ass killed very quickly.
