I am in Dubeath, and have 525s 53c.
I have a badly damaged Sloop, (hull 4/18 Mast 8/16 Sail 4/16 need 3 keel but I have all my guns) and I wondered if trading it in on a new ship might be cheaper than repairing it.
Your current ship is valued at 392s 50c in scrap and the new ship the Sea Brigantine you see here is a bargain at 1034s 19c. Your out of pocket expense with a trade-in would be 858s 38c Your out of pocket expense without a trade in would be 1034s 19c.
1. Is there any point in listing the without a trade in price the second time? Won't it always be the bargain price? 2. I am being allowed to trade this in, even though I do not have 858s 38c. 3. 858s 38c + 392s 50c does not equal 1034s 19c. Why the difference?
I am not being allowed to trade in on a Pirate Topsail (a bargain at 1373s 66c, out of pocket expense 1140s 14c) I am being allowed to trade in for a Trade Ketch (a bargain at 1,070s 15c, out of pocket expense 888s 22c)
....
I bought the Ketch. Now I have 16s 32c in treasure. This may have been a mistake, but I thought you would like the info.

I am still having an issue with trade in values not being computed properly.
Ship is valued at X in scrap Ship I'm looking at is a bargain at Y Cost with a trade-in is -> Y <- Cost without a trade-in is Y
Scrap is still not being subtracted... Unless it's a display issue- I haven't tried to see if it computes the scrap value during the purchase, as I'm hunting for that new Darksail Cutter and don't want to risk wasting money if I don't have to.
Challenging. HTC one. 4.4

Update: finally found the ship I have been searching for. The scrap value WAS subtracted from the cost of the ship- it just wasn't -displayed- as such. Instead of costing me the full 1500sp it only cost about 600sp

Interesting. I've stopped getting the bargain at Y, cost with trade-in Y, cost without trade-in Y. But the math still isn't working out ...

I have created #AOP-2398 to see if we can perfect the math or explain it on this thread!
