Hi everyone, I played a bit this morning and an idea came to me ; I was wandering around in Mars territory, with a -100 reputation, and escaped every events I ran into (I like my CK's stats). I do not complain about that, on the contrary ; I like the idea that, if your CK is skilled enough, he can cross like a shadow into enemy territory without trouble if he wants. BUT... What would happen if he DOES NOT ? If he was openly looking for trouble ? Like, for example, if he was going with bounties on his head to the Midway Club (Mars), right into the house of those who wants him dead ? So, what I am suggesting is : if your reputation with a faction is bad enough (I believe -100 is more than enough), going into their clubs (or any other kind of building) would/could (on a stealth test) trigger a fight, as the enforcers watching the place would recognize you and try to maul you. Simple, efficient ; if people hate you, don't try to go shopping on their turf.

Well, there are some gear that are only sold in a single store. Sad if you couldn't ever get a Kraken suit just because Mars hates you.

grävling That's why I was also saying that it could happen on a stealth test, only if you fail.

Bohrson - I will look into adding a special encounter set for "Hated Knights" that are extra bad.

Officer Genious I do not think that "fixing your rep" can be envisaged if you reach -100 or worse with a faction. Not for a very long time, at least. And there will always be phone connectors in the worst case anyway, if that is really your priority.

And phone connectors are randomly dropped-- and not all factions have more than a single Connector via phone. I don't think that being shut out of a faction is a good idea once the ladders are completed either. I dunno, just not seeing the advantage here...

We've definitely had forum members work their Rep down from over -700 to become friends with a faction before. I've seen it reported.

If you want to change your 'most hated' status, hack and sell paydata. Which, of course, requires having a v-chip of a buyer from the faction you wish didn't hate you so much.

I never said the "Hated Knights" encounters would be 100% fighting or inescapable! I'm just saying, the encounter system should recognize really bad Rep and respond.

fallen -700 ? I did not even know that it was possible to go so low ! Officer Genious Better RP aspect. That's important, I believe. I never said that a fight would be the only and 100% certain outcome ; I just find it strange to be able to go around and do stuff in my enemies clubs and shops without more danger. I totally approve what Fallen is thinking here.

Great idea I think! And maybe a bounty hunter system like in star trader could be really interesting, when you are too low on rep, you can encounter bounty hunter that are looking after you every where. And I would find normal that in shop and VIP room they try to kill you if you go there... And that when you loose a battle or surrender, if you have a too bad reputation, they kill you and not send you in jail (like in ST actually).

It may have changed with all the V2 updates for connectors, but with one of my CK's I found out if your rep is negative with Mars, all the Texas Roadhouse jobs will be escort missions. I stole over 100 Megs of data, sold it to Yakashima, got a +400 rep with them and, and around -175 with Mars. It took about two weeks in the game's time, but I got back to positive rep with Mars and had around 200000 credits from the work. It can sometimes pay off to be hated by a mega corp. I don't remember the name of the thread, but I do remember some one once said they were -2500 with Mars. My CK Lonewolf has a personal war with KH, so I never get to use the thropters. eltoreador, I like the idea of "bounty hunters" being sent after you. There is some thing like this in the MNB story line depending on you choice near the end of it.
