I am thinking of doing another "normal" run with a different group: Vrase/Fyona/Kjarten/Selen (I am wary of trying Tamlin, because I think I need Selen as a 2nd tank). Can people suggest group or individual builds involving these charactgers? In particular, two things: First, I want a Vrase build that will be a huge damage dealer, while still retaining good survivability. Would a Dex-based dual wielder work best in this context for Vrase? And what kind of SP drain numbers do I need for high level Ferocity to work? Would 20 percent be enough? Second, how do I do enough AP reduction with this group? I have neither Kyera and Vincent's 2 AP ranged curse. And isn't Fyona's 2 AP curse melee-based? In general, this combination won't need Selen as secondary tank as Fyona is a natural in this role. So I'd rather go for a Pinning Shot Selen to get those ranged attackers down by 1 AP as the lack of ranged AP curses will be an issue. Vraes: Burst of Speed, Natural Mastery, Berserker Range, any attack skill, preferable Juggernaut as it is the coolest one. Selen: PS 5, Dance, QsD, anything Fyona: Shield of Cortias, Strickening, Reckoning, anything Kjartan: Ash, Burning Blades, Immol ation, Firebolt

Don't bother with Dex Vraes. STR will always be better for damage, IMO. DEX will be better for everything else. So this is not a simple decision. Yeah, that was my dilemma.

So I will use Fyona/Vincent/Selen and either Vrase or Kincaid. Isn't the beauty of Selen is that she can both tank and do ranged damage? In my first group I had Selen at Pinning Shot 8 and still main-tanking along with Kincaid. Does Fyona have no ranged attack or curse of any kind?

achilles73Fyona's range is strickening at 3. All her main combat after that is melee like Vraes, but like Vraes it is all powerful, difference being she has buffing and cursing attacks and group defense buffs. She's used in some of the top ironman teams for a reason. Her limited range and no mp boosts means she's potentially the slowest to get into combat, but once she's there she's a wrecking ball.

Meh. By the end game, you'll have more than enough points in Dodge and Parry via your gear and talents. I would rather make sure damage is strong and constant than to have more of something I already have enough of. You can always get more Dodge/Parry, but damage is harder to come by once you max out.
Many different ways to play, not one perfect way to do it (working on that though)

Electrickening *needs* Kincaid. 1ap AoE at three range is CRITICAL. I know you want to use big V, but he just isn't meant for this group.
If you absolutely must, 2AP weapon max, you'll absolutely need to use Juggernaut for the added SP/AP/MP recovery. Burst of Speed will help you get from enemy to enemy.
Kincaid is 100% better.

By the way, is there a high build damage build that uses Vrase rather than Kincaid?

By the way, is there a high build damage build that uses Vrase rather than Kincaid? Vraes uses crits (br) and high dmg dice of empowered attacks like CB and ferocity plus str, nm and 2h weapons. The whole group of the original 4 heroes are more crit focused generally, and except for Vraes, have somewhat more AoE. The alternative 4 are more magical dmg focused generally except Selen. No one hits as hard as br Vraes, what he lacks is AoE and range. Juggernaut makes up for some, if not all of that.

Well...after looking at the awesome juggernaut ability I am going to try vrade and not Kincaid. I know I am probably making a big mistake after studying En1gma's posts..that juggernaut ability seems a killer. Any more comparisons with these two is appreciated. Electrickening team has great synergy.. Thanks for the warm welcome dungeoneers.

It will still work, Vraes will still deal a shit ton of damage, he just won't be able to kill as many per turn as Kincaid until Juggernaut giving you 2-3 extra attacks.

OK, a few things...
Juggernaut is awesome. I think I'm going to go retool some of my previous builds that were FEROCITY heavy and put them into Juggernaut. It's just so nice to have that step forward-- it's like having extra mp, to the point that I'd consider taking points out of Burst of Speed and using them for Juggernaut.
How have I not used this before?

En1gma - lol, its a classic pattern. Cory and I mention something that is good, or that players should try, and everyone lol's us. Eventually, you wise up and try Happy New Year!
