Is it possible to change it to allow me to harvest/explore/get new plans from the page I am on instead of going back?
Explore for example, I explore, get a result and I have to go back to explore again. Normally I just want to go ahead and with the default(or maybe the same exact number I did last time?) number of crew members just explore again. Its dittos with the harvest or when I am looking at the new ship plans and I dont like the one I just saw.
Its a pretty minor change so its not a big deal either way, but it would save a ton of time clicking around.

I will see what I can do -- wouldn't be a simple thing to change, I'm afraid, due to the way the internals of the game are designed. I will look though -- I have learned many thing since my early days of Android and Java.

I agree. Small change (for us) but not too important. Whenever You have time, man.

How about a button to go from urban to wilderness and vice versa?

It makes sense that you would need to lift off just to park your ship in the wilds, but I do agree the explore page could use a "That was Fun, let's do it again!" button.

I would be more interested in the urban/wild button - sure you need to take your ship out of stardock into the wild, but you shouldn't need to go back into orbit first.
For repeat explore/harvest, there is a distinct problem with having the ability to repeat the action. The issue is the fact that your ship has finite storage. Often, I do explore missions with an average hold size of 70. I have around 10 records, and some LR's to keep the crew happy while they get pushed into alien traps and the likes. Nonetheless, if I am lucky, I still get about 40 units in Explore, or 60 units in harvest. If I go back and just re-explore again, I might get 30 units in explore or 40 units in harvest. The problem is that you then have to waste a bunch of stuff for the local fauna to run off with. What the heck does the native wildlife need with 15 units of Alien artifacts, I have no idea. They still scurry away with the stuff all the same.
I've always explored, gone to my cache, dumped, then done the explore again. I know for a fact that even if I don't find much one explore round, there is still a chance I can strike a big load the next, and I don't want to squander anything if I can help it.

I see it as a sub orbital maneuver though. Even the millenium falcon flew some in atmo.

But by making it a two-stage process (Urban --> Orbit --> Wild), you end up consuming 2 weeks worth of game time rather than just a 1 week Urban -->Wild

Maybe, but that seems like an extraordinate amount of time before every takeoff and landing.
C: Gotta take off, hey Mechanic, can you start the engine?
M: Sorry captain, I've gotta clean the exhaust heads out of it will explode when we fire her up.
<A week passes and they finally get up into space> C: Actually you know what... Let's fly back down to the planet but we'll land in the uncivilized area in sector B.
M: Um, actually captain you'll have to wait a bit. If you want to land I'm to need to fabricate us some new segments for the landing system. Our originals burnt up as we were exiting the atmosphere. Stupid Munglarian rubbish parts!

slayernz -- what you are experiencing is a desire for a larger ship. I have found that once I have 170 hold I do not worry so much =)

I always desire a large ship - with huge numbers of engines a profile like a porcupine because of all of the gun turrets and torp tubes. In this particular case though, it's not so much the ship size that's an issue (I cache after each crew purge explore operation) but rather the fact that if I want to go from an urban area to wild (eg on Javat Mining), I'd rather not have to go into space. It's not a big bug-bear for me at all though - on the grand scheme of annoyances, this would be classified in the "mere piffle" class of annoyance ... it's just that it fits into this particular thread.

Would it help you if you thought of it as, "The ship isn't sufficiently air-worthy to do cross-planet trips quickly and easily. For those a sub-orbital hop is better." combined with "And anything involving moving the ship means powering up the engines, doing preventative maintenance, bringing watches online, etc., etc......"?

I'm just annoyed that the local authority hasn't seen fit to provide a bus service.

Oh i see! ST ships are liks NASA apollo era rockets.
Refill solid rocket boosters.
Build new launch platform
Build ship vertical launch erector
Transfer ship from horizontal to vertical state
Transfer ship 1 inch per hour across rough terrain for 9 miles
Chech ship over
Eelay a month
Recheck
Delay launch for weather
Delay launch for repairs.
Launch sequence aborted, turdlip got sick and puked over the launch controls, abort.
Come on.
