So in real life one of the worst hazard against spaceships are micrometeors. So,i think that there should be a rumor saying"there has been an enormous number of micrometeors in deep space" it would damage sails and engines,or sails and hull,or sails and something... ANYWAYS.. What do you think?

And maybe thisrumor would start after rumor of "syndicate navy cracking down indeep space" because of micrometeors forming from destroyed ahip debris.

I could add a new type of accident or a rumor.
Accidents happen based on the danger of the ship (under staffed, full of artifacts, damaged and in deep dark space) and are randomized based on a type and rating. we could add one here
OR
rumors are persistent events that happen in the world and effect many aspects of a sector or urban zone. a metore rumor could increase accidents, cause less merchants or even trigger some strange behavior like random damage during combat.
obviously, rumors are harder to code =)

I thought it as a kinda same than radiation storms.may be good that way too. BTW,i think its ridiculous that a radiation storm can occur when orbitting a planet.

Aurora borealis is actually a perfect explanation.

The local star would be the perfect source of random radiation storms - even more so than in deep space.

it prefers to place them near planets, but not inside stars.
i assume we can all agree that a Star counts as a radiation storm and that the rumor is probably redundant.

That turns out for a great rumor:"i heard that solar majoris has turned so hot that you cant touch it!!!" or "i have heard about a recent solar flare storm in the surface of the morning star"

Orbiting a planet is the perfect place to get a radiation storm, since a habitable planet is close to a star, and while in orbit you would hope to be outside of the ionosphere which protects us from the solar wind radiation (charged particles, protons). If there is any problem with radiation storms in the game it is that they are persistent in an area rather than travelling out from a sun at near the speed of light. However of course the radiation storms could be due to some other origin such as human recklessness (with nuclear weapons, naked singularities, or reheating last nights pizza) BTW,i think its ridiculous that a radiation storm can occur when orbitting a planet.
