As there are encounters where it is possible to obtain electronic components that can be sold for cash, I was wondering if there could be a feature where the parts could be used by the cyberknight to make things?
Obviously, the higher a characters electronics skill and attribute the more things they can make. I was thinking that if a character entered a safe house and had a load of electronic components they could use them? I'm not entirely sure what everyone thinks of this but all knights would be able to make things even if that profession has no real use for them (so the items could be sold for cash). But the characters profession would give an increase in success rate of crafting. E.g. Hackers get extra 10% success rate in computer programs and other related things. I have a rather short list of things that could be made and which professions they are geared towards.
Hackers- Computer programs, spy software, small robotic drones (expensive to make but could be used instead of a runner)
Gunslingers- Electronic bombs, silencers, scopes, variety of fire arms (excluding sniper rifles)
Snipers- Silencers, scopes, sniper rifles
Cyber swords- Clubs and other melee weapons.
General- Ammunition (all three kinds), stim patches, medical supplies, etc.
I don't know much about the other professions and what they stereotypically use so maybe other people could suggest some other items?
Also, new components would have to be scavengable to make this work, e.g. metals, plastics, medical kit making supplies, etc.
Just an idea I thought would be nice to see in both the free and elite versions of the game.
What does everyone (especially the developers) think?

bullgod - you basically read our minds! We are looking forward to that type of system someday! However, from a priority standpoint, Jobs is still #1 to complete to really improve the overall gameplay!

I understand what you mean fallen as gameplay is important, but it's just one of those little things that would be an interesting optional.

It would :-) Might also give hackers something else with their techno skills

"Electronic Bombs"
AgentExs could have a bonus for making trap items. Mines, razor wires, gas bombs.

Perhaps for hackers, when you encounter a damaged drone, the chance to repair it for a temporary ally would be cool. The Fennians always seem to have a salvaged drone. It would work for a day or more, then breakdown completely.

That could work too, but repaired wouldn't last as long as made ones. But it'd depend on electronics skill too.
The trap items would fit Agent Exs I suppose, but I only play as a gunslinger.
I see gunslingers similar to cybernetically enhanced cowboys. They roam round with lots of guns and ammo, shooting people (personally I aim for the face) for cash. It's like they're proficient in guns, melee weapons and explosives. Clubs are just too unwieldy for them

Monkey Legion here. It's been a while, I had to recover my password. @ Bullgod yea, I could see Gunslingers tactically using explosives in combat. AgentExes are a more stealthy type class is why I suggested a trap type bonus. For the crafting itself, strength could have a bonus for fabricating heavy clubs, dexterity and perception could add to more delicate crafting. And electronics of course.

And fire arms skills in making firearms, silencers and sights?

I would think so. Even if it's not a critical skill for crafting familiarity with firearms could help with smithing, replicating their components. I wonder if it would be just straight stock weapons, or if you could enhance some statistics with different pieces/materials while making them. I love the idea of silencers. Maybe lower heat gain when killing? My current Knight has an Optical Survalence Lens and Nano Collection Chamber in his pocket. Do you know any other components that can be found? The lens might be rigged into a scope. Not sure what the Nano Chamber is. The many drone components themselves could be scavenged, along with an armoured casing and some wiring, the have a tactical CPU to gauge its non physical statistics, like Firearms ,Intelligence, perception. Different tiers of CPU s could be bought or crafted. The NanoCollector I have two theories for.1 Is that it collects and processes/recycles/vents somewhere else any nano pollution that might damage the drone. The other is its some kind of power source. Not much thought in that one. I'm loving this concept.

I remember Cory and Andrew mention equipment durability and components being on the road map. That would be a big part of this.

Maybe a drone could be like allies... First is salvaged drone has to be repaired every day at the cost of *parts* and can be done at any safehouse/hotel pr maybe just at a safehouse to make things interesting... for the cost of some parts and xp u can convert ur salvaged drone to a drone Second is a drone that runs for a week or so before it must be repaired ur electronics and hacking and probably intelegence skill determine how long it remains operable on each maintainence run however like a runner as its xp increases it will require more and more parts to maintain at a certain point for more xp and parts and at a minimum electronics skill u can convert to a Hunter Killer/Cannon Drone Finally the HK Drone or in some cases Cannon Drone is like an ally it no longer requires an increasing maintainence schedule bc it has finally been fully repaired and only needs repairs as needed from combat damage repairs for such could be done from regular med kits (bc they run off electronics skill... maybe???) or from drone repair kits that could be either bought or fabricated by the ck... This also brings up the idea of being able to buy parts such as metals and other salvaged items to be used in the ck fab system could be bought at places from junkyards in the ganglands to high end electronics stores and raw materials importers in downtown and corplands
