I retract my previous statements ...
10 Morale gives you a 20% DISCOUNT on Maintenance. 9 Morale gives you a 15% DISCOUNT on Maintenance. 8 Morale gives you a 10% DISCOUNT on Maintenance. 7 Morale gives you 0% delta from baseline.
On "Easy" there are NO penalties at all for Morale.

As I said in the other thread, based on a previous post, I though maintenance cost went up by 10% for each point under 10 of morale

I'll get some screenshots of my current game. Only playing on Normal, but it's a TON of fun and my empire is getting pretty big. Tried to switch up my normal strategy of Fighters + Carriers and am leaning on cruisers this time around.

Here's what my empire looks like at the moment. It's running a little ragged as I've had a ~50 turn skirmish going with the Xenos and have pumped out 6 cruisers as well as 2 troop transports, but as long as I keep one or two of my foundation planets idle I'm still making money every turn. I'm slowly building up my 3rd wave DeValtos worlds up and establishing exchanges on my planets, so I'm expecting my economy to skyrocket again in 20 or so turns. Really amazing game Cory Trese and fallen, I love it! The Stupid Town empire! Gaze upon my economy and weep. No, seriously, it's that bad!

johndramey - I love the look of it. Scrappy! I too love to play my economics close to the quick, running pretty ragged so I can jam updates as fast and furious. When a war comes, its time to slow it down a bit and win the battle before going after it again.

fallen - Bingo! I'm constantly on a knife's edge, economically speaking. My first year or two in game is spent totally neglecting my military and just mass producing planetary upgrades, focusing on my foundation worlds first, second wavers second, and so on. Sometime during the 2nd year I'll shift over to a total military footing, spitting out a basic military and trying to instigate something with the xenos. Really enjoying the game, and am thinking about doing an LP of a game once Alpha is finished. Might be a fun way for a) new people to learn the ropes and b) players better than I to laugh at me.

So I'm a little late to the party what with real life and two fun Fyona groups going in HoS. Here's my empire summary. Playing on Hard. And here's a shot of my empire, had to zoom out to get it all in. Just wrapping up my first xeno attack.

Very nice, contributor. What map you playing on? Your empire seems pretty spread out, so how is defending it? Also, nice maintenance rate! I'm currently expanding like mad and have around 120%

Update on the previous entry, I've decided to try and finish this game since it's on one of the big maps (150x50), and try and find some bugs late game. Still expanding into Xenos territory, and I've had a maintenance flux from 88% to 122% back down to 87%, and most of my main planets already have various mines 3 and factory 4. I really need the next set of hab units and factories and space mines, because I'm afraid I'll run out of options soon and have to start going over the qualities of the planets.

Hab 4 would be nice. Once the economy is humming, all that I think really matter is morale. so just keep spice festivals in queu and all those overcrowded citizens in a drugged utopia
