Proposed Generic Description: Star Traders 4X was an idea first proposed by fans of Star Traders RPG. The third game set in the Star's Edge universe, ST 4X challenges the player to lead a group of refugees from near-extinction to prosperity in a turn-based empire building game. As a political and military leader, the player uses influence, diplomacy, spy-craft and economic savvy to build a winning strategy. Facing both internal and external threats, the player defends the empire from infighting political factions and hostile alien creatures. ------------------------ History: The Star's Edge world has been in development for nearly 10 years. Originally concieved as a table top game in the early 2000s, the setting was expanded several times and became a mobile game in 2011 with the release of Star Traders RPG. Players who enjoyed the Firefly-style Captain-of-your-own-ship RPG often asked to have more control and influence over the game's many factions and star systems. I suck at writing #Help #Please #Someone #DoSomething

Here's another: "Following the end of a massive civil war, humanity's survivors fled the galactic Core under the guidance of the Templar Order. Many however, could not keep up with the main body of refugees, and were forced to stop short of their destination. Take command of one of these groups of refugees, lost, weak, and without the protection of the Templars, and guide their political Factions in rebuilding in the new Quadrant, deciding how to Upgrade Colonies to manage income, research, and espionage, build customized naval ships and defend the Quadrant from the threat of the Alien, a powerful foe that wants nothing but utter annihilation of the Star Traders."

As the Alien races gutted the core worlds, the great Exodus began. You must lead a tiny fragment of humanity to create a new civilization from the ashes of the old.
- Rediscover over 100 lost technologies and create limitless combinations.
- Variable Map size play in a region of space as large or small as you like.
- Five different difficulty game settings from easy, to realistic, to nearly impossible challenges.
- Colonize Star systems using a combination of 3 Syndicates and 3 Royal Houses
- As more refugees pour in you must build shelters, mines, spice dens, Palaces, and a large variety of other improvements for your Empire to survive then flourish. - Robust Politics. The core is gone forever but old rivalries remain. Use espionage to quell wars, establish trade, and enhance research.
- Design and build hundreds of different ships to prepare for the next Alien onslaught.
- Fight one or more Alien races bent on the eradication of humanity. They will relentlessly search the galaxy to find their hated and feared enemy.
- Explore strange anomalies among the stars to advance your civilization.
Fascinating game play, with so many features to choose from each game can be a unique experience. Will you be the one to lead humanity back to greatness, or watch the last flicker extinguished by victorious Alien hordes? Star Traders 4x awaits!

Hmmmm, odd, I posted to this thread, last night, but don't see it now. What is this description for? Google Play or other markets? Facebook? A separate ST 4X web page? Setting expectations is huge for getting good reviews! Also have you guys settled on a final name for the game? ST 4X will only speak to a limited audience. It seems like maybe the best "capsule" term for the game is "empire builder/building sim"? Whatever the best term is, it should probably go in the first sentence. One activity to stimulate a good description is to draft a list of key words that need to go into it first. Not thinking so much of fluff words like "amazing," but core concepts that give a clear picture of what is involved. Anyways my wheels have started turning. Once the drives are all spun up, I should have something in a couple of days. Edit: Is rabidbite paying attention to this thread?

contributor - tt's a great place for us to crowd-source marketing pitches on the game. As to where they will be used, maybe not at all. We've seen some inspiration text already, so pieces of this thread are sure to appear in different places throughout our content ecosystem. We aren't asking you to write specifically for any outlet (GPlay), just to provide your own snippets that you find inspiration if you are inspired yourself ...

Ok, I was just asking, because the more specifics the more it helps to write. Either way it didn't take too long to come up with something. The first two blurbs are pretty similar and the third is akin to Cory Trese's "history" section. The Galactic Core is ravaged. You are called to lead a coalition of Empires in Exodus to reestablish a new home in the Farfallen Rim. In this turn-based empire building game, the player must explore their new home, colonize new star systems, research and recover lost technologies, develop a powerful economy, manage conflicts between the factions through diplomacy and espionage and build a fleet capable of crushing the enemy. Face off against savage Xeno races and humanity’s ancient foe, the Narvidians. Failure may well mean the extinction of humanity. The remnant of humanity stands on a razor’s edge. Pursued by their ancient enemy the Narvidians and faced with new and savage xeno races, the remaining factions must unite under your command in this turn-based empire building game or face certain extinction. You have been called on to lead the Empires in Exodus as they explore their new home, colonize new star systems, research and recover lost technologies, develop a powerful economy, manage conflicts between the factions through diplomacy and espionage and build a fleet capable of crushing the enemy. This much requested follow-up to Star Traders RPG takes players out of the cockpit and gives them control of multiple factions and solar systems as they carve out their new home in the Quadrant. Set in the Star’s Edge universe, which was originally created over ten years ago as a table-top RPG, this next evolution of the story is a direct response to players’ desire to control and develop their own worlds. It is the third mobile, and now computer, Star’s Edge offering developed by the Trese Brothers.

"Flight Deck" or "Bridge" is probably a better term in this case than "cockpit"

I Agree completely with these points and the others you made in both posts. ST 4x is obvious to Alpha testers and long time Star Traders fans not someone searching for a new game. First impressions are the ones people remember. The game title creates that first impression, so something else should be considered. The first Trese Brothers game I bought was "Star Traders" the title made me want to go on reading the details and the rest is history. I think it is very important to drop all references to the Star's Edge game. It can cause unintended consequences. I didn't know the Star's Edge game existed and last night tried to Google search it to find out more about Star's Edge not about other Trese Brothers games. Keep the sale focused on ST 4x. Edit 5/28/14: Sorry I came on too strong in this post: I was in a crappy mood yesterday. Is "Star's Edge" a table top Cory and Andrew created? All I could find were references to a Star Wars game. If you guys wrote it, I would sure like to take a peek, it would give a great insight on the direction where you think things should be going, and I can do a better job of keeping my foot out of my mouth. Thanks.
