Colonized a planet with Rychart, and on that same turn the planet turned indie. Is this supposed to happen? I thought it only happened once a planet reaches a low moral point. And would I receive some kind of payment for the planet, since I'm selling it to IST?

@chococrowbar - that decision by a Faction is influenced by a whole host of factors, and it is definitely intentional that it could happen "immediately".

Aww shucks, and I wanted this planet to be greater than Cadar Prime, with only 4 quality.
Yet I can still decide what to build, so does an indie planet going over quality affect my upkkep total?

@chococrowbar - the planet economy follows the same rules, but its population growth and other growth factors are very different. It also will not build ships for you.

What changes in the growth? I would imagine it slows, no?

I'm glad it does; saves me my turns/dregs of consciousness from having to treat them horribly to leave my empire. Aww shucks, and I wanted this planet to be greater than Cadar Prime, with only 4 quality. Yet I can still decide what to build, so does an indie planet going over quality affect my upkkep total? I'd like to see this answered and a better idea of pros/cons if anyone can say. More importantly, is it feasible (if unethical) to mine the heck out of a planet run by independents if they give few other benefits/detriments to you?

Independent worlds will not grow populations like Faction worlds do. They basically ban Faction settlement.
You can mine it as much as you want, and even later pay for orbital mines to work around the quality.

They are also generating addition Trade Points (TP) and immune to conflicts.

Exactly how long (if one can be exact) does a colony have to hate you before it decides to go Indy? Will there be a way to disown a planet to the Indies, because I have one with no habs on it, 9 population, and 1 morale, and still they persist. I would love nothing more than the Xeno or Indies to take the planet, but nothing. I eventually started rebuilding to keep them from draining too much income away, because they just hung on for so dam long...

En1gma - it requires more factors than simply 1 Morale. What is the world's Quality and Mineral? What faction? What Star color? It may never go indie.

Thulun, 9qual, 15mineral, red star. Looking at it now, I just might be able to bring it back. Since I 'abandoned' the planet I've since hit Mine 2 and I'm researching Hab 3. Who knows....

En1gma - I would not wait on that world to go indie. Spend a little money with subsidy and fix the place!
