I'm curious about how exactly this works. I know the basics about how to invade, I'm hoping for some specifics so we know how to improve our results.
What stats are used? What upgrades affect it other than planetary invasion 1/2? Can I increase my ability to lower pop and not quality through upgrades or just invasion type? Speaking of which, is the info in this thread:http://startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/7708/first-planetary-invasion
Still accurate regarding the risk of each action? What about defenses, is risk to the ship just based off the normal evade/armor/shielding stats?
Do troop upgrades help invasion?

Also, what is your recommended invasion setup? I'd be happy to end up with a quality 4 planet, I always seem to end up with dead planets though. Do you use more than two ships at once? One other thing: I noticed all the xeno worlds I was invading had pop 20. How do they manage that? At that point in the game my highest pop planet has 9 population. Is the xeno cheating? Am I doing anything wrong? Also, one other thing after that: I saw in a thread that the xeno has a high construction rate in exchange for a higher price for ships. I read on another thread that the ships the xeno uses at the beginning are super cheap. Does that mean that in the beginning the xeno uses super cheap ships that can be produced uber quickly? Edit: one(I really mean one this time) last thing? What is the research path the xeno takes? Do they have colony ships and hab 2 immediately upon starting the game? What is their research system? Also, one other thing that just popped up(I actually really mean it this time): how does xeno population work? How do their politics work? Surely they don't have three internal sub-factions thwarting their progress as well? Do they even have a morale system? Do they lose morale when the humans(a.k.a. to them aliens) come and start bombing? Edit: does anyone use the strategy "bomb them to low quality then watch their economy die"? Does it work? I've never tested, it's just an idea I spontaneously had. Edit: I've also seen the xeno gain population at the rate of about 2 per turn. Do they have baby alien factories or something? Also, I've never noticed an overpopulated world. Can they turn on and off their population growth?

So many edits... There are definitely people that can give you more info than me, but here's what I know. What stats are used: Your ship captains have a specific Invasion statistic. I don't know how it's equations work but it's pretty self explanatory. I also up ship durability and fuel capacity. What upgrades: High level drop pods I believe increase success chance. You can research invasion abilities 1-3. 3 is pretty high up the ladder. I don't know much about the three operations, but for me it tends to work like this: Bombard: Population damage with low quality damage.( I would think it's the other way around) Scouting: Only Population damage. Lower success chance. Invade:Chance of low to high population damage.(I've seen 1-4) Chance of quality damage. lixxx235 I like the idea of sapping the Xeno economy by just damaging their quality and leaving it their. I'll have to try that.

What I do is I create a buffer of Dead Worlds between me and them, while looking for higher Quality system. When I find it, I have only Scout missions from my Transports, then claim the world to use as a supply chain anchor.

Greetings intergalactic warlords!
Could someone tell me how to invade a planet without reducing it to a inhabitable wasteland?

Use Scout from multiple tranports, with only one using Invade. It works pretty quickly with a high Invasion skill.
