In a world of sanity, people who think Easy is too easy should play on a higher difficulty.
I for one am extremely grateful for the changes and it has allowed me to make huge progress in understanding and enjoying the game.

I would prefer not to have this long term. Normal should be challenging. I could see this on easy. The higher you go in diff challenge should increase.
Thanks crimson

Maybe you should try Hard instead.
A lot of people, me included, have been asking for help to be able to get into the game, make progress and explore the options.
Thanks to this change more people who are novices can start enjoying and succeeding before moving up the difficulties.

Crimson I have to respectfully disagree. The point of normal is to provide the average, everyday player with a basic challenge, while still giving them some chance to have a win condition. I've played several different 4x games and this is the only one that really make me think that I truly suck. When a player such as myself plays 10 games, and continues to get beaten to a pulp, time after time, they give up on the game. I had to go back to HoS because I couldn't figure out this game. Hopefully now I can win my first game, and I'm looking forward to trying this new normal- thanks Cory Trese! Updated review on gplay Elite version.

Normal in the all other more expensive 4x games are more or less meant for casual play. You will have some conflicts but you should be able to do whatever you want for quite a while before you have to fight. If you wanted to, you can make enough treaties / bribes with the enemies to stay away from war and go for a peaceful ending. Understanding the only goal in ST4x is to kill the Aliens, the default Normal mode needs to allow the average players who download this game into their device to play casually until they encounter the aliens. They should be allowed to research down the peaceful paths for long time before they have to construct a space fleet. The latest update seems to be good enough for now given the goals set by the Trese Brothers. It is a lot easier than before in Normal mode, at least the Solar Wars don't last as long nor are they more deadly. I can build my fleet up while scouting out the frontier for aliens. I like to beat them up for good but I can settle for containment and pacification as well.

I doubt anyone other than the test robots have had enough time with the latest version to really comment, but it does a great deal to improve the experience on Normal and Easy.
In particular, this applies to the Tutorial AI and it's new logic tree.

Not to mention the option to pick how many Xeno opponents you want in Elite on any map. That's a big difficulty controller as well.

All of our games have some form of "auto-playing bot" to test and re-test the game. There comes a time when you cannot click buttons fast enough to crank out updates like we do, and you need robots. =(

Darn, more jobs lost to robots! First the factories, now the game testers!

Any possibility of lower ship mobility for enemies on the easier difficulties? Or maybe larger fields of vision? It might be too game changing, but in my opinion if you don't truly know what you're doing it feels brutal that alien world killers with 4 movement and colony ships seem to have more hp or armor and better evasion than their ship-to-ship combat ships.

Maybe some in-game hints, library, or even on this site that will show us what needs to be researched to get to certain canned ships. We won't feel half as bad if we can build our own.
Question: do Alien Ships have fuel limit?

hlo - anywhere a new ship hull type is unlocked, you should get a new canned ship. Thanks for playing!
