Yes to both in the current setup. Do you agree/ disagree?
The number of Crew brought along would: - Reduce Wound % for the Captain (Slight) - Increase of Chance to Find (Slight) - Increase in # of Units (Large)
It will be possible to take too many Crew with you. After a certain size the Captain will no longer receive the bonuses for additional Crew, although they might die. This optimum limit will be defined by the Captain's Tactics skill vs. one of the hostility factors of the planet.
Once we get the basic mechanics of Explorer working better, we can start turning on the additional events. There are a list of "Special Events" that could occur (with or without paired rumors) and should make Exploration of the really remote places more fun. Most of them depend on upcoming features which is why they're still turned off.
Some Examples:
- Crashed Ship Discovered [Enough Crew / Pilot to Recover it?] - Meet Marooned Faction Members or Criminals [Contracts, Combats] - Discover a Faction/Captain Cache - Uncover Ancient Technology Site [Unique Ship Upgrades] - Encounter Mercenary Tribe [New Officers, Skilled Crew] - Encounter Hidden Spice Den [Morale Boost, Crew Boost] - Discover Abandoned Base [Free Low Quality Player Base]
The Richness 5, Tech 5 and Danger 19 planet might not make sense right now, but it will when all of Exploration is enabled.

Note, this isn't a gripe or complaint. Where's the best place to explore at the beginning if there are no rumors? Just grab a low diff planet and go for it? Given the amount of space for fuel you'll need, far away planets don't seem optimal. Veteran explorers, your thoughts?

I always hit up the nearest planet, and I make sure it's got a good explore rating.
I find that the harvesting planets really aren't great money makers early on. That said, I do visit them to obtain records, which are the single easiest way to get that first bit of rep without having to anger another house/clan.

I hope everyone likes the new "Loot All" and "Rename Ship" functions.
Both of those came straight from the forum users.

Records come from exploring or harvesting?

Excellent! I didn't know that. Now I don't have to find random ships to beat up on for records.
