Hey Cory, I thought you had fixed the bug where you had a rank with a faction but a negative RP and if you hit surrender to a merchant, you get immediately tried and executed. I just lost my latest Crazy level captain (74th level). I had gone into negatives (-91 to be exact) with Javat but was still military rank 5. I was working to make amends with them and tapped on surrender by accident. Normally with a major negative, you get a confirmation prompt saying "If you surrender, you will be executed", but I didn't get any confirmation. Instead, I got chopped, sliced, diced, and scattered out the exhaust ports. I'm ever so slightly peeved at the loss of Crazy Ivan. He was a good captain who was used to test most questions chucked in the forum of late. He deserved to die by the hands of some 4 headed alien, or in the arms of a buxom young Rychartian lass, 579 years his junior. So please recheck the code to do with surrendering so other captains don't get obliterated in the blink of a button-press. Alternatively - do you know how to resurrect a dead captain? I've always wanted to fly a zombie causing death and destruction throughout the galaxy

Why would u b surrendering to a merchant at all? I thought that was pirates and military and bounty hunters?
Never surrender, you'll never b executed :-p

I have a few posts about this elsewhere on the forum as well. For some reason still having rank turns it to acknowledge instead of surrender... So you and I both have fallen victim to it. Just be careful of your rep and never surrender OR acknowledge if it is negative.

I thought that had happened to be as well but was never for sure....
Zombie captains would rock :-) however it kinda defeats the whole "if your dead your dead" part....

How about reviving at a few levels lower? It hurts but its not as bad as forever gone. And with the time to difficulty march, will make it hard to keep pace too after.
Like three fourths xp?

Or like in carwars (pen n paper rpg) / autoduel old pc game based on carwars, player has option to buy a clone.
When the clone is made a recording of the players mind (skill & attribute values) is made, if the player dies the clone is activated and player picks up where he left off skill wise but with the posessions he had at t.o.d.
The player can make another clone at anytime. Can update mind recording, for a fee, anytime he visits the clinic (any branch)
In this way, if u can afford it u can save, if u cannot, dead means dead.

Woohoo ... Paying the Doctor Technologist one meeeeeelion dollars will allow you to create a clone of yourself, stored as an insurance policy in case of accidental (or intentional) death.
After 10 game years, the clone expires (you can't keep a clone on ice for more than a decade).
So effectively it becomes one of those $1,000,000 a decade insurance policies that you take out.
Early pilots just can't afford that kind of dosh, but in saying that, they don't really need it. It's only for those veterans who are flying around for 4 - 5 centuries+
Crazy Ivan would have shelled out for a clone or 5 ... especially when he went and pursued the Dark Nemesis reward
BTW, something buggy happened on that reward too - I swear I was only a wanted crim for like 5 game years when I got given this award. Maybe this is Karma coming to bite my character - you got the award 4x earlier so hey, we'll get a merchant to kill you off.
For the record, I'm not 100% sure it was a merchant - but it was a situation that when you have rank they shouldn't kill you. I'd even be willing to sacrifice my first mate if that will appease justice. He's been using cloning technology for like forever!
