I saw the xeno at 1.33. Am I dead? Should I just start a new game? It's terrox on mode 2.  |

Hm... I can't remember how early I saw them on the tutorial map (that's this map, right?), but I reckon it's not too bad. XD
Just stay out of their way for a while.

I remember spawning on 0.00 with xenos two spaces from my colony ship; so no, never give up, never surrender!

Especially on the tutorial map, you should be able to take them if you play well.

You can learn a lot whilst going down fighting. As long as your economy holds up, you should be ok.

Ok, I'm almost certainly dead now.  How do they do this? They're like 2 turns away from my core worlds and I haven't built a single military ship yet! Plus, they already have like 8 colonies at least- I've been watching planets slowly turn xeno then disappear from my star chart on my left. |

Wait, what do you mean by you are on mode 2? Going by what I have read on the forum, the aliens have two "modes": 1 = relatively peaceful expansion, 2 = Found Lunch (you). Tapping on the empire screen (button with two faces) and then the three-bar menu button at the top brings up the list of players - you and each of the alien races.
