So I have noticed that xp costs go up even if I haven't increased a skill. So my current character is level 30. Explore is still rank one but now costs 7 instead of 3 what it originally.
So my question us, is the.xp.cost based off of your highest skill, your average skill, or just scaled to how much xp you have earned? Or how much you have spent?
I am tying to figure out the best way to level up my character.
I realize the manual will probably cover thus, but I don't know when it will be coming out... Hopefully soon right?
Thanks guys!

It is a good question. It would b nice to know what is best to upgrade when it is cheaper to do so.

There've been a number of threads on this, but basically XP costs (for skills and abilities) are determined by the level you are on. So you're right, at level 30, the number of XP required to increase a particular attribute will be higher than at level 1 ... or level 20. So the next question is - how does the game determine the particular the level you are on? Somewhere within this Forum space, there is a really cool (although quite complex) formula that shows how levels are calculated. So in short - after level 2, every 6 points that you add to any skill or statistic will get you a new level. As you know it's typically about twice as expensive to increase a statistic as it is to increase a skill, you have a number of ways to strategically use your points up. 1) Rapid level ups ... (for awards or cos you really want to be level 192) Focus all of your points on your skills (pilot, stealth, etc). 2) Avoiding level ups ... (because in higher level games, enemies are at 100%+ your level) Focus all your points on statistics. There is a flaw in this plan, however as as game time goes by, the enemy levels automatically go up regardless. Also, you REALLY REALLY need pilot + stealth at the very least, and ignoring those attributes will mean a short sharp trip in the galaxy before your blood boils in space vaccuum. 3) Keeping XP cost as low as possible Spend 1/2 to 2/3 of all your XP in statistics, whilst not neglecting Skills. This way you still increase critical skills but the more expensive statistics values are bought in advance. In saying all of this, tactic 3 is still heavily fraught with risk. There is no one solution that you should implement through the course of the entire game. Your strategy should adjust as game time goes by. Instead, try and look for ways to quickly increase the number of XP that you have. There is, for example, a way to increase 40 points of XP per game year ... but that's for you to discover and somewhat risky. Good luck The details of levels are now captured in the Wiki www.tresebrothers.com/strpgwiki/tiki-editpage.php?page=Skills%20&%20Attributes

It is impossible to spend all ur points on skills however since skills cannot exceed their parent attribute.

So far I have been keeping my skills maxed except for explore. But I have wisdom and quickness about twenty or thirty percent higher than charisma or strength. Well rounded and egg shaped instead of flat.
Thanks for the formula!
