Hi! First post on these forums. I love the game with a massive passion! I've played games like Moo, Moo2, and Moo3(for about 1 day then trashed the disc in disapointment), love the Privateer series, wing commanders, and well yeah, love the old school space games. What I'd love to see, would be planet takeovers during solar wars (I used to play Sid Meiers Pirates! as the Dutch, and try to make as many ports Dutch before I retired If not actual planet takevers, how about something like being able to create a player base? Have a new upgrade which costs a LOT... I mean HUGE! A single use structural upgrade or something, that perhaps, when you land on a wild planet, you colonize it for yourself (or faction maybe?). Then it would be awesome to help the colony by supplying the tradeshall with goods, and running a lot of crew transport missions to build it up into a decent small fringe colony Pipe dreams?

Player bases similar to what you describe have been in the works for several months. Lots of planning and changes to support it are already in place in the game as it is today.
We're working on it!

Hooray! You Trese brothers are great This has to be THE best developer supported app on the entire Android Market. I've already paid for Elite, quite a while ago after the free version got me hooked hardcore! So, as you are so dedicated to this game, I too, am a dedicated gamer, so is there any way we can help out via donations?

Andrew and I have spoken at length about donations and the entire concept of a commercial enterprise taking "extra money" from customers. We are deeply concerned that at some point we would be called greedy or selfish as a result.
What we need as independent developers is the support of the players. For Android that means posting 5 Star reviews on Star Traders, Star Traders Elite and Cyber Knights. We really need those reviews!
Maybe posting on various Android game forums about how or why you enjoy Star Traders. We have a Facebook group and we need positive posts on there to help get the word out.
The only thing I can imagine accepting in terms of donations would be some type of "Buy the Trese Brothers a Test Android Phone" where 100 people donate $1 and we buy a used edition of tatauu's Samsung Galaxy 3 phone to test with (or a Droid X for Star Traders)

i think its possible to donate by buying the evil bears game... If its still in the market. And any other trese brothers game you dont like.
As for player bases,i think that when colonizing a planet, you could choose which faction flag it does carry. It would achieve a HUGE rep bonus with that faction, but in times of conflict,(solar wars, trade embargoes, trade wars, etc)the planet would get attacked. And make it possible to make the planet indepent so during times of conflict the colony is a hideout for all kinds of people whi dont like conflicts.

The solar wars always end in ties. Why is there never a victor to the centuries of conflict? ;-)

how about something like being able to create a player base? Have a new upgrade which costs a LOT... I mean HUGE! A single use structural upgrade or something, that perhaps, when you land on a wild planet, you colonize it for yourself (or faction maybe?). Absolutely adore this idea. It would be great to have tiered bases so that players from all levels can start building a base and then make it bigger and better over time. Adding these bases to the waypoint list would enable fast travel home too. Adding to this, a few ideas for unique base abilities. Dry Dock retrieval - lists the ships in Dry Dock and enables the player to have one brought to his base for a premium. Likewise they can send a ship to be dry docked somewhere. Warehouse - a premium upgrade that allows the player to store commodities until they raise in value. At certain levels of base/warehouse, the player can have a steady income by renting out space to friendly factions. Hangar - store ships you own in the Hangar. Alternately, use a Pilot officer type to take a ship back to your base once beaten in combat. The player must return to the base to pick up the officer again before they can use him again. These ships can be stripped of upgrades then sold, broken down into scrap and sold, or fixed up for future use/sales. Andrew and I have spoken at length about donations and the entire concept of a commercial enterprise taking "extra money" from customers. We are deeply concerned that at some point we would be called greedy or selfish as a result. If the product gave something back to those who paid then there's no way that would happen, or at least not often. One idea might be a small premium pack that unlocks the unlockables from the start of the game, no matter what awards have been earned. I know a few players don't have much time to invest with these games yet enjoy the play style, so a premium upgrade like that (perhaps half the price of the game, maybe even full price) would get bought by people who want the full experience without having to invest all that time.
