I would vote for #tbfan as it's short to write (and so great on phones ) and really what we all are

Don't most IRC clients have autojoin anyways? If anything setting up #tbpalooza would be nothing short of adding it on your join on connect list. I do it all the time.

Most clients do have the option. Of course, you have to enter the channels you want to join on connect into the config, and the method varies per client, but that's normally not complicated.
I'm waiting a bit longer to create the channel so others can have some input on this, but whatever channel name is ultimately chosen is fine with me. I just want to be sure everyone has a chance to speak up about it.

I have't been in a irc channel since the late 90's. No plans to go back:)

BlastGT1 personally, I would prefer if you set up the channel on an established, major, server, just for conveniences sake.

I agree, nothing wrong with freenode. The reason I originally wanted to host the channel on my server is because of security and familiarity. My server uses non-standard ports to connect, which keeps away a significant amount of trolls by itself, it has a BOPM which was tested against a 300-strong botnet, and I can fully control every aspect of it.

My concern is I'm on mobile... I've always have been on mobile. I can connect to freenode with no problem but I don't suppose your server has an app I can use to connect.

I second abysmal on this one. I'm mainly using my mobile too (like a lot of us I suppose) so we need something easy for mobile users.

You only need a mobile IRC client to join, no matter what server. Andchat is a free one that works well enough. I have many people from my own forum that connect from their phones, so this isn't an issue.
EDIT: If anyone wants to test, I made an unregistered channel for anyone who wants to try connecting.
Server: irc.skyn3t.net Port: 7001 (+7010 for SSL) Channel: #tbgamers
I idle 24/7, using the same nick as I do here, in case anyone needs to shoot me a message.
