So trade wars reduce population movement (yay!) and repairs. What exactly does this do to repairs? I had a maintenance rate of 92% before my ships took serious (non-fatal) damage and suddenly my maintenance cost is rising by 1% every turn. =/

So I kept bleeding ridiculous sums of money until I sent my badly damaged ship to red territory, where my income suddenly bounced back. O.o

Haha, I'd look for other causes for the economy recovery, as ships in red cost money.

Do repair and refuel costs ever rise higher than the maintenance penalty for having a ship in red?

squee - I am not sure that I understand the question. The cost of ships IS factored into the Maintenance Rate.

I always thought might it cost extra to repair, but if I'm reading you right leaving a damaged ship in deep space is more expensive than having it repaired in green faction space?

Odd, as I was actually suffering an overpopulation problem on a planet when I sent my fighter to red space, and yet got a cash flow increase. I don't know what's going on anymore.

Officer Genious - considering a system with so many variables and inputs, it can be easy to mistake one event (sending a fighter into red space) as the cause of another (income increase).

Fair enough. I'm just not sure of what's exactly doing what. I've been able to handle this Trade War without it bothering me much until one of the fighters got significantly damaged. But I'll play further and see what happens.
Oh, and can we have a dedicated library button? I want to be able to see all the entries and browse at my leisure without having to get myself into ugly situations to read about it.

Officer Genious - "dedicated library button" means a library with 100% of the topics?

Or just with what you have so far.

Officer Genious - you can access the library from the turn events page or from the game menu. Confused as to what is missing?

Turn events and game menu? What game menu? The one of the faces facing each other? That one only gives info of my current political predicament. o.0

That's probably the power button on the lower right, or when you press the back button on your phone on the main map. It will show Resume, Library, and Main Menu. It's the same as the library button at the top of the turn events page.
