I dont know if this has been mentioned before, but grenades would be fun to have. There could be the normal hp-mp ones but I think some thing like a grenade filled with toxic waste or nano-slag, causing a permant ap loss for your enemy would be fun. Or a grenade that affected multiple tiles at once. Just an idea

@guest - welcome to the forum and thanks for the post! Due to the architecture on the 3 year old game, grenades aren't something we can add to CK, but we're looking forward to next generation of the games in the future that will certainly include this sort of action!
Sorry to say no to your first post!

Well I am pretty sure that I had seen a post somewhere about it before so I was just checking. Thank you for the quick reply and cyber knights is my favorite of your games by the way.

@guest - additional maps and in-door missions are on the plan, eventually yes. We're hoping to start getting used to adding more maps and regions by expanding the NBZ south into the Wastes, and then we'll look more seriously at other types of maps and expansions (Boston Harbor Islands, indoor research labs).

Going back to grenades for a second, the point there is the ability for area effect. In CK, fighting is done in one-on-one cut scenes like in the original Front Mission or Dragon Warrior games. The point of grenades are to affect multiple subjects, or to get them while they (or you) are using cover- neither of which factor into the game mechanic.
So as an alternative, I'll just ask what kind of game mechanics you'd try to use in CK2? A side vs side line up for combat like in an olstyle Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire type RPG could be fun.
The Unity-based Shadowrun returns is MUCH more realistic, but isometric pseudo 3D is (pardon my saying so) probably way more than a team of 2 can pull off. Templar Assault-style play could probably work. In fact it already has an area of effect weapon- the Hydra. Come to think of it, Heroes of Steel has LOADS of area of effect stuff in it. I'll go with HoS style play for CK2 if I get a vote XD

If we were to use the Cyber Knights style of combat as per CK 1, we'd take the "side slide" from games like Shining Force to do AoE. The first target gets hit, and then sides off the screen to be replaced quickly by the second and the damage is displayed and if there are more targets, slide again.

fallen Ah, Shining Force... the game that made me love S-RPGs and brought me to CK. I'm glad to see that we have the same references. =)

Bohrson - its the original inspiration that drove me to want to create a game like Heroes of Steel too.

I love the thought of the game being expanded to more zones. Especially with the mention of Chicago area by one of the shops. I realize that would be a different area entirely and not part of NBZ, but maybe taking a transport there, or even traveling by caravan that you had to protect. Sorry, not at all related to grenades. Keep up the good work.
And can I just say, the thought of CK2 made me drool a little.

Will CK2 take place in New Boston, or one of the other Zones? Or even multiple Zones?

Will CK2 take place in New Boston, or one of the other Zones? Or even multiple Zones? Multiple zones, both inside and outside the domes.
