I was just wondering if Kincaid's other empowered attacks can also be used with throwing knives or are they only good for his melee attacks. I'm really wanting to try those but having a hard time figuring out how they might work best on Nightmare.

I will double check for you, but my cursory investigation shows they should impact all of his attacks.

I'm interested about this- what do you mean by his other empowered attacks? Like using Crippling Strikes with TK? Or more like gaining bonuses like that from Flashing Blades?
Also, am I the only one who would dual-wield the TK if they could? Especially if certain empowered attacks could be used by them like Flashing Blades, or Storm of Steel?? Just slap some parry on them things and let me get to work, lol!

The Buffs and Curses granted by any Talent (Buffing Attack, Cursing Attack, Buff, Curse) will affect the result of Darting Steel (Thrown Knives). You cannot thrown knives with other talents than DartingSteel.

You cannot thrown knives with other talents than DartingSteel. Thanks that answered it. It would be really cool if you could use Flashing Blades or Crippling Strikes to throw blades as well, although that might make Crippling Strikes too powerful at higher levels. How about making Flashing Blades apply to both kinds of attacks? Or if you have to, make it just apply to thrown attacks, something to give those throwing knives more versatility.

contributor - per my statement, "The Buffs and Curses granted by any Talent (Buffing Attack, Cursing Attack, Buff, Curse) will affect the result of Darting Steel (Thrown Knives)" ... Flashing Steel does affect Darting Steel. The buff from the buffing attack grants +Accuracy, not +Melee Accuracy. I hope that helps explain.

fallen- contributor isn't saying that TK should receive benefits from buffs- we know they receive them. We're musing about selecting Flashing Blades and being able to throw TK in order to utilize the talent itself.

Yep, I see that. That is definitely not possible.

poor Kincaid, lol. It's not like he already isn't ridiculously powerful as he is, we have to go and request ludicrous things like this

Not to bring up this thread from the dead or anything but I just had to come in and post this... Also, John Robinson's info is always helpful! Kincaid absolutely ROCKSI've been running a group through the Torrent Watershed and had originally built Kincaid as a kind of skirmisher, thinking I woukd have to rely on Fyona's superior armor to soak up blows. Little could I have known just how difficult it would be for the enemies to land any melee hits on a fully buffed Kincaid. My current group loadout let's me get both his parry and dodge bonus up to +10, which when paired with his already sky high stats just makes him a dodging machine. Not only that but his Sure Parry let's me stick him out front and basically guarantees invulnerability. It's to the point now where Kincaid is generally the spear point with Selen and Fyona, who are no lt defensive slouches themselves, sheltering behind him. Who else loves our plucky little dueller as much as I?

Has anyone made a pure dodge and evasion Kincaid yet? I'm looking at the Assassins Weave, which gives 42 armor and +7 evasion. The stealth component (+4) is great too, and would allow him to scout quite effectively with some other gear and a few skill points but that's not what's important right now.
Has anyone found a pure evasion Kincaid viable? Get Sure Parry up to 4 then go straight to 10 on Footwork... Armor loss could be offset by either LbtB or more Parry, coupling this with Crippling Strikes could provide ample protection I think, seeing that he wouldn't really ever get hit... Set him as stealth lead and use Vincent behind him to curse everything in sight, further protecting the front... Fyona right behind that, then maybe even Tam to go full sniper with a pure DI/Aimed Shot build, or Selen with mixed curses to strip some armor.
Anyone done anything like this? Did it work?

The question would be if anyone made a heavy armor Kincaid yet. His options lend naturally to builds that focus on not getting hit. I always equip him with the highest evasion armor and focus on dodge and parry for other choices.

Lol, I agree, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried the extreme end of that spectrum and how it worked. I have a build using the Fox Overcoat, and I was just wondering if the bonuses for evasion seem to drop off when E2/E3 rolls around. I haven't gotten that far with a pure evasion build, and I might even forgo Parry until after maxing out Footwork.

For me the evasion/dodge focus worked quite well, especially in e3.
