The two newest contracts in Star Traders RPG have gotten a pretty big set of updates in v5.6.1 and there is a lot of nuanced strategy to them.
I've been testing and practicing with them for a few weeks, but wanted to open up this thread to get feedback from the real experts -- our Captains.
The Exchange-Delivery contract is not new, but is improved. The Smuggler-Delivery contract is new and shares some of the same strategy.
Some things that are different about Smuggler-Delivery ... - Cargo Units remain in the Cache until the entire order is complete -- this may mean rumors or treasure hunters can steal them - Smuggler Contracts pay extra to Indie Captains - Smuggler Contracts give a bonus for Exo-Scout Officers - Smuggler Contracts give a pay bonus based on the 'Sell Price' of the Urban zone where the contract is issued - Smuggler Contracts give a longer duration for distant, or very low Cache Rating world - The largest, and most expensive Smuggler Contracts are found in Elite editions
Excited about these new options for both Free and Elite players.
+ Smuggler Contracts can be found in the Palace and Military Base + Smuggler Contracts require a Trade Permit

I like the idea, as it fleshes out the job system a bit more and shows more about how Faction operatives get their goods. Need to fly a bunch of illegal Narv tech through Faction space? Call the Smugglers. It gives them more purpose rather than just single customer merchants. I like it.

I'm going to keep working on expanding it and better connecting the new rules to Conflicts and Rumors.
This update also included a number of improvements for the Exchange-Delivery job, like updated payment rules, better expiration logic, more complete bonus rules and difficulty sensitive delivery quantity equations.

I'm wondering how on my smuggler I still have a trade permit with Steel Song yet I'm a legendary crimelord at the same time (accidently violated an embargo...) was there an update that effected smuggler permits, or was that just some kind of anomaly?
