I recently noticed in my game that many (but not all) of my colonies show different RP values in the colony view than they do in their listing on the "All Colonies" screen. I am playing on easy mode on the tutorial map, using the javat/thulun/steelsong factions. The current political situation is 2 spy wars, one between Thulun and Steelsong, one between Thulun and Javat. My understanding is that spy wars give colonies +2 RP (not sure if this is cumulutive though if a faction is involved in multiple spy wars).
So here's one example. My colony "Kalflange". It is of the faction Thulun but has not been actively building anything for a few turns so should have the +2 RP Thulun bonus. In the "All colonies" listing, it shows an RP of 18 for Kalflange. When I go to the individual colony view for Kalflange, it shows RP+12 at the bottom. The following are sources of RP in Kalflange:
Starport 4: +2 RP Palace 3: +2 RP Exchange 4: +4 RP 4x Spice Den 3: +2 RP/each = +8 RP Mine 4: +1 RP
So that's +17 RP. And it seems like all colonies have a hidden starting +1 RP bonus? Also since it is an inactive Thulun colony, it should have an extra +2 RP. And Thulun is involved in 2 spy wars, so an extra +2 or +4 RP, depending if spy war bonuses are cumulative. So I calculate it should be at least 22, possibly 24 RP total.
Neither the colony view nor the "all colonies" listing show the expected value, and they also don't match each other, so I'm guessing something's not quite right there.

A balance of best data to display and most easily understood by the average player.
Most of the feedback we received during alpha, and after launch, indicated the current strategy was best.
I'll keep working on improving the game as best as I can.

I found a bug where the total in the Colony List did not include all Faction bonuses for Clans, Thulun in particular.
RP (and CP) are both capped to Population -- you can build Factories and upgrades to increase CP or RP over Population, but they won't activate during the turn.
Conflicts do not stack -- being in a Spy War (or two) grants +2 RP.

Ok thanks for the info and for looking into it. By the way the library currently says RP does not require population to activate, so I take it that is outdated then.

Wrong from the beginning, there are tickets in to consider rule changes / updating the Library. I just fixed the part about RP activation by Population. Thanks for pointing that out.
