Class Paladin Type Area of Effect focused holy warrior, with healing spells and buffs. Good all-rounder with great potential for a tank / AoE support hybrid character. Gender Female Name Isobella Background A rare profession for a girl to pursue, Isobella always wanted to wield the Hammer of the Gods as a Paladin, along with her four older brothers. As a child, she resented their teasing and poking fun at her, but now – in maturity – she is secretly grateful. For it was the harsh words and dismissive attitudes of her older kin which spurred her to train relentlessly, becoming the unwavering Champion of Light she is today. Notes The damage / effect calculations based below are just rough ideas of how the skills could work – please do not respond with “That will be way over powered” or similar. It’s purely to visualise the kind of effect I’m going for. Thanks! Skill 1 Focused Strike (Combat, direct) – With the brushed steel head of her warhammer resting upon the ground, Isobella grips the haft with both hands and takes a step forward, gathering momentum to bring it up over her head and crush the enemy directly in front of her. +10% chance of critical hit, with an extra 5% per skill level (so minimum 15%) Skill 2 Holy Warcry (Curse, AoE ‘+’) – Isobella lets loose an unearthly scream, her crystal-blue eyes aglow with the fury of the Gods. Targets five squares in a + shape; centre target has no saving roll, and has their defence stats reduced by a third for [skill level + 2] turns. Adjacent targets get a saving roll against the same effects. Skill 3 Divine Retribution (Combat, AoE ‘-----‘) – Sacrificing any movement that turn, Isobella bows on one knee before the enemy, the haft of her warhammer gripped before her, crackling with divine electrical energy. It forms into a ball of lightning, before shooting forwards into the enemy ranks. Hits up to five targets in a straight line; the first target is stunned for one turn (put to the back of the turn queue), and hit for [skill level*(10 points per five character levels)] electrical damage. This damage is reduced by 10% for each target the charge subsequently hits. High cost – Cannot cast and move in the same turn. Skill 4 Scything Sweep (Combat, AoE ‘[][][]’) – Our ferocious Paladin sweeps her mighty warhammer horizontally across her front, hitting up to three adjacent targets in one mighty blow. Causes physical damage to up to three enemies within melee range of the Paladin, dealing less damager per foe than a single attack, but potentially more damage overall per turn. Great for clearing out those last few low-HP stragglers! Skill 5 Self-Sacrifice (Support, friendly targeting, direct) – Isobella, focusing the training she received as Paladin, sacrifices her own health to heal that of her chosen target. The target must be friendly – either a party member or NPC fighting alongside. Maximum range and effect determined by skill level. Skill 6 Resurrection (Buff, friendly targeting, cannot target self) – The Paladin imbues a fellow hero with the power of the Gods themselves, allowing them to narrowly escape death. Her moral code prevents her from using this power on her own mortal body, where it could be abused as a kind of immortality. A single party member may be given this buff at any one time, and it can only be recast after resting at an inn or a campfire where leveling is allowed. That party member will survive a blow which would normally slay them, and restore their hit points to an amount affected by skill level of Resurrection. With a little luck, this will allow them to escape combat, or fight for victory! Skill 7 Deified Invigoration (Support, friendly targeting, direct) – Focusing her mind in the same way as she would to cast Self-Sacrifice, Isobella depletes her own mana reserves – plus a small portion of her health – to reinvigorate her chosen target’s mana pool. Effect increases as skill level does. Skill 8 Born Again (Curse, AoE, ‘+’) – By sheer force of will, the Paladin strikes the fear of the gods into her enemies – terrified, they become confused and begin to fight friend and foe alike, until such time they regain their senses or are wiped from existence. The level of the skill affects the maximum range of the spell, as well as adding a negative modifier to the saving throw of the target(s). Enemies will use physical attacks (melee or ranged) on random targets, regardless of which side they fight on. Magic users will be ‘silenced’ for the duration of the curse.

Also, at this point, if we do start adding a new character, we'd 100% be asking the Patreons to vote on which character type!

Just make sure to post that on all the app stores and sites like here when you're ready get those dollars and inputs following at capacity. :-) I'll be supporting by direct purchase myself tho.

I'd like to add a "wind at our backs" type talent to the proposed air elementalist mage. Group mp,dodge buff.
1,1 mp,dodge 1,2 1,3 1,4 1,5 2,5 2,6 2,7 2,8 2,9
Not sure of sp costs yet...

Guided blades talent for any appropriate new or existing chars. Accuracy, parry, damage buff. 1, 1/2, 4 per talent level. E.g level 10 would be 10acc, 5 parry and 40 dmg. Maybe a divine swordsman priest char. high lvl and sp group buff?

Ninja in rogue class should have "arrow grab", like sure parry, but for ranged... Must have a free hand.
Bard might have "battle hymn" lvl 18 buff almost everything non soak or stealth a little: acc, parry, dodge, damage, mp and crit. Up to 5,5,5,10,1,5% mp at lvl 6, dmg every lvl and the 5s have 2 buff every other lvl. E.g. Acc and parry up on odd lvls and dodge and crit on evens.
The pikeman/lancer pole arm specialist should have a "set pike" which causes damage to enemies when they first come in range. Prolly have an enemy limit like sure parry, or at least need to make a succesful attack roll.
Monk talents: Iron body: 8,8 damage (dmg unarmed only) armor per lvl. Lightning reflexes: 1,1,1 acc., dodge and parry per lvl. Light footed 1, 1/2 stealth and mp per lvl. Max +10 stealth and 5 mp. Basic strike, lvl. 1 only punch and/or weapon(s) - fists are 1 ap dex acc based each, lvl die damage e.g. Level 10 monk does d10 plus strength mod plus iron body mod. Death punch 2ap punch 5% crit per lvl. Jump kick: strength based 3 ap attack with 3d lvl damage plus mods. + 1.5 acc and 3 dmg. per lvl. Dragon breath, lvl 18+ area fire attack 2x3 20 plus d14 per lvl.
Monk weapons and armor. Any 1h weapons (including fists), no 2h, bows or shields. Robe armor only.

How about a new tank slot character with a self heal buff? Vreas can shrug it off, Kincaid can parry it, and Mr. New-Guy can heal on attacking? Then he would have to prioritize +HP gear, since he can take a hit, but bounce back, but not too serious of a hit. Maybe every time he lands a hit, he gets a self-buff that accumulates, and he can bank them for HP on his turn. Makes it a tough decision to go with lower AP weapons or not. He could have one skill to gain cash-in buffs when he attacks, and one skill for 'cash-in buff' from taking damage, and he has to choose between focusing on def heals, attack heals, or both at the expense of other skills.
--
I think the debuffs/buffs could be used in other interesting ways. What about a mage who has three spells- red, green and yellow. When he casts red it damages and leaves a red-debuff. When he casts green it lowers parry/dodge and leaves a green-debuff. When he casts yellow it lowers damage and leaves a yellow debuff. Then, if he casts a different color on the same char, it mixes. A red and green debuff on the same person changes both into a single purple debuff which lowers dodge and parry and adds -1AP. Red and yellow make orange, which lowers damage and armor. Green and yellow makes... um... light green debuff, which lowers dodge and parry, damage, and accuracy.
How about a Cleric who's buffs/debuffs are double edged, like +accuracy and -damage in the same buff? Or a +crit%, +accuracy, -damage, so that attacks for that character are all about getting lots of crits, otherwise the damage is mediocre? The buff would be used on one character, not necessarily the whole team- maybe limit it so the buff is only ever on one person. These buffs could be stacked with certain equipment so that characters can really specialize or cover their weaknesses (protect Kjartan!!). Make it a bless weapon/armor buff. It could be a cleric of Vurnak! Think of the dialog at certain points in the game! And the buffs are about better gear and the debuffs about ruining the enemy's gear. And she could be the first healer slot to have a skill to get rid of the enemy's buffs.
And on the theme of new uses for buffs/debuffs, there could be a Sneak slot who does more damage based on the amount of debuffs on the enemy! Kill the cripple!
