a tricked out Zendu Cutter?
140 Cargo Hold, 16 Torps (with ARES).
Yet it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

Absolutely there is.
Which ship depends on what you want to do with it.
(I very rarely fly a Zendu for example)

Zendu for the win. Jango or Tibrius as well

Zendu is good, but I definitely prefer my Royal Class. Not to be confused with the Royal Cutter which is a different yet similar ship. I love my Royal. Home away from home it is.

bit.ly/star_trader_rpg_shipscheck out all the ship info here (at the bottom you need to move the slider all the way to the right to see all the ships) One of my personal favs is the Cyber Jammer, same agility but a bigger hull/cargo. Wolf Vector is another, it is THE fastest ship in the game agility wise.

I cannot tell you how many Captains I have lost trying to capture Wolf Vectors. Moths to a flame ...

lol thats why I just take whatever I can find.
Well the fastest POSSIBLE ship (with upgrades) is the Moonrunner. The best boarding ship for takeovers (calculating price + crew) is the pirate crossbow (the one with 80 crew not the other..).
though why in the world we have 2 only cory can answer....
So yah... I think there are alot of options :-) Though I would argue the prices need to be tweaked, high engine/hull ratios are so important I wonder how often some of the middle ships are being used....

I find that for the prices its more adventagous to hold off for a Quick ship then it is to try to buy a mid range ship for almost the same price. From an economical standpoint that tends to say that the mid range ships are overpriced or the Quick ships are underpriced. Others may have a different opinion though...

i'm all for increasing the price of fast ships but I have heard people who are strongly on both sides of the ship price debate. Some say too high, some say too low.

Your ship pricing calculations are pretty good - faster or better ships should cost more. I do think that you should get a little more money back on your trade-in though ... or even more money if you decide to outright sell your ship. The trade-in price should take into account the low mileage you've done, the regular servicing (replacing of damaged sails), and not to mention only minor paint transfer marks from the occasional boarding attempt.
The one thing I'd REALLY like changed is the Ships of Honor II - the Templar ships are (a) very uninspiring given they are something you worked hard to achieve, and (b) too uniform - no real differences between the different factions. (c) small. the Javat cutter runs rings around the templar ships - at least on paper and after some quick upgrades. Even better, the Javat Cutter is available from the moment you get rank 1 in the Javat military.
I'd like to see a play on the factional differences ... eg the Cadar Templar should have good engines, lots of guns and torps (military ships should look like porcupines), whereas the Javat Templar should be more of a great hauler with plenty of sails and a hold of at least 150.

Oooooooooo cool! .... and by the way, I do love the new upgrade options for ships. It makes me actually have to think about what to choose for upgrading now. We need more upgrade slots

Obviously I've been working on this for like a week now after some threads made killer points about ship cost and re-balancing.
Testing has been going on in the backround as we have pushed for CK stable.
The release includes major changes to pricing, adds roughly 20 new ships and adjusts the stats on over 40.
New pricing also extends to include trade in values, but not scrap. This will continue as we work out the rules for ship capturing, so for now, scrapping will remain unchanged.
(Another reason you don't see me jumping into ripping the "take ship" system apart is I know it's already on the factory floor for a rebuild after player bases.)
