After playing around with the new energy storm I am finding immolation really underwhelming. Even with an all burning blades then immolation at lvl 6 it's not doing nearly as much dmg as say energy storm at the same lvl. I'm thinking the base dmg should be higher or immolation should be available as a talent choice immediately and maybe move burning blades to a lvl 6 unlock. IDK, but it just falls short in comparison. I think some balancing needs to be done.

My one experience with Immolation was negative... it rarely hit the first time, never mind multiple targets, so I haven't used it since. By the time Immolation unlocks, Firebolt is giving better accuracy bonuses. I wonder if it work well with a Kjartan focused only on dealing damage. Of course, to achieve that, you'd have to down play Choking Ash and Burning Blades, so I haven't tried it.

Immolation has been up-balanced in the past. I will take another look, but was happy with its balance.

A big problem with immolation is its lvl 6 unlock. Lvl 1 immolation needs to be better or available at kj lvl 2

I really want to make an immolation KJ, but if I'm going attack mage, it needs to be FB for me. Immolation just isn't good to me. Now fallen- I know you say Immolation is crazy powerful if you use BB and Ash in conjunction, but a ton of my groups, and some other people I would assume, need him to fill an attack role earlier than Immolation allows. This is a steep investment early on that is difficult to justify for me. By the time you get to level 6, KJ is almost invariably better off continuing with support (BB and Ash), or continuing with attacking (FB and Ash) which at that level is doing large amounts of damage, compared to a level 1 Immolation. I'm not saying I couldn't make it work, I'm just saying that this is a huge reason why I still have yet to use it. Just my two cents... Having the option for Immolation beginning at level 3 would be a great change for me, and would allow for builds to be built around it for me. Thanks for listening to me again about Immolation, I know I had brought it up a while back, so your patience with me is greatly appreciated

After the latest re-balance, I've found amazing success in doing Ash until Level 4, then BB, then Immolation.
I don't think it improves the build to tempt people with it at Level 3. Going to FB leaves Kj very weak later in Episode 2, when he just cannot drop enough damage.
Every point of elemental damage gear I put on Kj Immolation pays off 3x-6x compared to my FB builds.

Cory Trese I guess I need to try it again... I just have been underwhelmed with it every time I use it... I'll just make a group that is all slow-burn... KJ working on Immolation, Fyona on Tank duty, Selen using QsD, and Kincaid doing his thing with Sure Parry and TK... Ride the Occam's Razor until we get to Red Hill, then hope we don't all fall apart and that my hours spent aren't all for naught. Will have to think on that one, I don't know....

En1gma - my Level 15 Kjartan continues to use Level 1 Firebolt on Nightmare. I disagree that if you want to use Immolation that you need to "waste" talent points on Firebolt before you reach level 6.

fallen in my break down of how I reason Immolation, I was saying that if I want an attack Kj, I go Ash and FB, not that I spent points on FB before investing in Immolation... I'll start a new game with this strange talent, and see if I can make it work.

I also do a Firestorm build where I don't spend any points on FB or IM. CA and BB only until level 18

What do you mean, 1 to 1?

Cory Trese Your firestorm build is the ratio of choking ash to Burning Blades 1:1 ? Or what lvl of each talent do you have when you hit lvl 18?

But you're doing the reverse otherwise. You're tempting players to go with Fireball because Immolation and Firestorm is so lategame (because leveling will eventually slow down) and Fireball is a pretty decent skill. It's not like every player is going to know what Episode 2 has in store. So they build up Fireball because it proves to be just so effective in Episode 1. Then in Episode 2, surprise! Fireball sucks now! Look at that 9 skill points you just wasted!
Shouldn't Fireball be a competitive option in Episode 2? Trading AoE for significant single target damage?
You're literally designing a game so that players will have to play through it over and over again, not because they enjoy multiple playthroughs, but because the game is geared towards making permanent important decisions that look good initially end up bad in the future. That's probably fine for games that springs those kinds of traps early on, but Episode 1 is long. Why wait until Episode 2 to tell players that the things they thought were good really weren't?
