I just can't envisage fallen succeeding in dealing to a whole keg ... ... the sock puppets would have had to have helped soak up the resulting spillage. I had one early game where I was trying to take out something nasty with my bow. I was particularly unlucky with the first roll - critical fumble. I shot my first arrow into my left foot! Next round, crap, critical fumble again - I shot the second arrow into my right foot and the DM exclaimed that I was pinned to the spot for the rest of the battle.

Oh my god, two critical failures in a row? That is extremely unlikely. A one in 400 chance if I am not mistaken.

In my young years (we're talking 20 years ago) I made a ranger. The party was traveling in an hostile forest and I was leading. I spotted a owl (a plain normal one, no giant or dire or anything) so I tried to communicate with it to help us watch ahead. I fumbled it got angry (yeah the first angry bird ) and attack me. The DM got a 20 and maxed out damages. My lvl 1 ranger died by a single attack from a owl...

Everyone at the table were laughing ! (me included) we were young... I just rolled up a warrior after that and got killed by a lich at lvl 36 but that fight was epic. I never again played any ranger though

Oh my god, two critical failures in a row? That is extremely unlikely. A one in 400 chance if I am not mistaken. When playing Battletech, I had a smallish mech with two large lasers, and managed to take out an assault mech with just two shots ... Me ... "Oh, I rolled a 12 - headshot. 8 points of damage" Matt ... "Lucky shot you bastard, I've still got 1 point of armor. just wait till I hit you with my three ER PPC's." Me ... "okay, rolling to hit with my second Large Laser. <roll> Ooh hit. What location. <roll> Hey Matt, I rolled another 12. 8 points more off your head" Matt ... "What head <sob>"

Luck comes and goes. That's part of the fun with tabletop games Like a lot of people (I think) I remember far more fumbles than critical hits. I'm particularly unlucky with dice though and I'm still know by some friends as "fumble master"

Yes the fumbles or misques are the most memorable. Was playing a SF game a friend had created, the weapons could do tremendous amounts of damage and even wearing the best armors characters could die very quickly. The party was running around this town with only the lightest of armor and weapons, was supposed to be a fairly safe place and we weren't looking to make the local law enforcement mad flaunting full combat load outs. Got braced by some gangers and I whip out my pistol and roll a critical hit on the leader of the gangers. Way the game was setup if you got a critical success you rolled again to hit and damage got adjusted, I rolled a second critcal and at this point everyone figures the ganger is going to be a giant grease spot when I roll the damage since its going to end up getting tripled at this point. Like I said the weapons were massively overpowered in the game and for damage with the pistol I'm rolling 1-1,000 damage. All told the ganger could take between his health and the leathers he was wearing less than 100points so no way this wasn't going to just pulverize him...except when I roll for the damage I get a 0 on first dice, 0 on second dice and a 1 on third dice giving him 3 points damage. That character never managed to live down his amazing critical attack

Usually in games my luck is so bad that anyone around me has really poor rolls. Not just tabletop games, video games as well.

I play a game called Werewolf in the OWoD setting and in one adventure I was trying to save a little girl from a burning call (I had the Honor Aspect and felt Honor-bound to help her). Well, while running to the car, my character tripped and I skinned my arms pretty rough... Failed my Composure roll, my character freaked out, went into War form, and I managed to get the girl out... well, half of her out. I tend not to have the best of luck in these games. On the bright side, I convinced her parents that it was an accident.

Wow, I just had crazy thought (way too common for me) how awesome would a forum wide d&d session be? But of course it would be really difficult to pull off (and I wouldn't be able to participate very well, stupid limited data...)

crackshotcerberus : don't forget that time zones would be an issue too...but that was a nice idea to think of

Oh right, forgot about that. That and people might want to have evil sessions while others might want to be good.
