Hi all. I bet that you do not see similar threads in this forum often . Today I have reached lvl50 with Alia, Rychart Pirate Captain on Impossible. It is great fun and I still enjoy playing it. Do not take me wrong, but ... it all seemed too easy. Contrary, playing Explorers on Demanding was way to hard - all of them died young . I am not sure what to do with my experience. Should I share more details? Should the game be rebalanced? Is the game OK and should I share it with others in Pirate's guide? Any thoughts?

This thread is strange ... I'm all for making balance adjustments and blocking exploits!
What's up?

I will send you a private message with more details tomorrow (it is midnight in here) as I feel that following the strategy will not be as enjoyable as finding it and trying it for the first time. I do not want to spoil the fun for others. But I would not call it an exploit either as I did not do anything really special.

It all depends on how repeatable the strategy is. Sometimes things seem to work perfectly and you get quickly to a position where you are the absolute power in the universe, dominating all who dare stray in your path.
Sometimes, however, following the exact same strategy, you suddenly find yourself the crud that gets scraped off the boot heel of the bounty hunter that just took you out.

I eat Narvidians for breakfast on impossible. Then, I fart clouds of radioactive fallout. By nightfall though, I am crying for my mommy.

If you're flying through the dead of deep space - is constant nightfall arbitrary?

It all depends on how repeatable the strategy is. I think it is, just confirming it again on Impossible. I played captain Irien on Demanding until level 28. It was easy. I played captain Fenikso on Crazy until level 26. It was easy. I played captain Dageron on Insane until level 12. It was easy. I played captain Alia Shawarazan on Impossible, made stupid mistake and died on level 14. With her daughter I reached level 50 just to make sure it is still easy. There were some difficult moments, no doubt, but far from Crazy, Insane or Impossible as I perceive the words .

Do you think you could give us this strategy? It may be your skill as a pilot rather than the strategy itself.

That's awesome, Captain. I remember just a few weeks ago your first post was about difficulties you had using the Explorer class (which, I think is a cake walk on any difficulty level in the game.)
We certainly love seeing player provided guides posted and with the volume of "This game is too hard" e-mails and posts we see, any secrets you care to share will surely be welcomed by forum members.
As you also noted in your first post, this game has an active and engaged creator. If in the strategy guide you point out some flaws or defects in the game or the design, I will be very happy to discuss, debate and improve them.
Thanks again for all your time and effort.

Actually, I still consider Explorer hard to play . Nevertheless, here is a guide for piracy . We can discuss what I consider "dis-balancing, flaws and defects in game design" later. Legacy of Alia Shawarazan
...The guide has been moved to another thread:Shawarazan pirates (Counter-Stealth strategy)

Interesting - I thought Stealth helped prevent you from being hit during combat. Focusing on Pilot and Tactics will certainly help with offensive actions (as well as defensively retreating), but if you don't focus on stealth, don't you run the risk of regularly taking hits during any/all encounters? Oh oh oh ... and one big question - are you playing this on Free or on Elite? Free caps your enemy levels to, I think low/mid 20's, which means Free is quite easy on very hard difficulties. I'm going to give your strategy a go and see how I get on ... wish me luck.

Level 23 is the cap in Free, yes, that is very true. Someone pointed out this as the core risk of copying a Captain over after Level 23 -- you don't know the difficulty index.
Good guide, I will link it from our various online properties! Also, I think that it is written in character is excellent (love any and all references to Shalun Law.)
I just lost a Level 62 Bount Hunter on Impossible to a Level 99 Bounty Hunter. =(

slayernz:Alia regularly eats lvl90 warships for breakfast (over-exaggerating a bit). The only risk I see is not being hit, but being boarded. Piloting skill seems to give you enough edge for evading hits as also does fast ship with enough engines. And please never suggest that Alia is not "Elite", as she may hear it and get angry . Wishing you luck, hope to see you in Shawarazan family soon .

Cool - I'd not dare suggest Alia is note Elite ... if we were able to have named enemy captains in the game, she sounds like one that you'd try and run from at every opportunity.

After 300 weeks, you should be Senior Pilot (level 5, Pilot and Tactics 15), have a new ship with first upgrade and financial reserve of about $70000. From now you can do whatever you want. But never forget one rule: You have to improve your skills all the time. For that you have to pick fights all the time. You have to be always better than your reputation as a pirate suggests. Generally by level 5, I am sitting somewhere near 100-200k at least. Not a bad guide, though I would recommend a few tweaks on it to improve efficiency. You have a lot of the key strategies down. I just lost a Level 62 Bount Hunter on Impossible to a Level 99 Bounty Hunter. =( Poor Cory! There there, cry it out! ;-p
