@cory Make a message on the turn start when you unlock a tech to research that contains a ship, or ship level. Or just have it mention the new technologies available. Also, since you have some technologies that have a gold border, make a purple border for those that have ships.
I have been looking at these and quite frankly, I will NEVER bother using them. Which means I would not bother researching those. With the current Mass cap on reactors, those armors are just too heavy to use. I already don't bother with most of the armors anyhow... .. I have enough problems mounting decent weaponry, so I tend to ignore the armors. They are just not mass-efficient enough for me... Aside from the 8s. And that's assuming I can even fit those on. I can not fathom how useful a new ship can be when 80% of it is simply armor and chassis. (And yes I do understand that one doesn't always need to use the higher level ship chassis, which is part of the point)
Speaking of reactors.....why isn't there a 2ap/4mp after 4000 mass? That leads me to question... Why is the VM Whirlwind 3 so much crappier than the mark 2? +1 defense should not cost an additional 40t mass with a 28cr/turn increase in upkeep cost while having lower damage output (both min/max and average) And yes, I did notice the new reactors that are all nice for mass....granted the weapons also increase in mass at a phenomenal rate....

I have a dumb question. Why/how would armor give you a damage (ie: offensive) bonus? Cladding and Barriers provide lower overall protection and more flexibility in deployment. Thus, they give the Ship's designer more capabilities to extend the offensive abilities of the craft. In this case, Duranium structural lacing is allows for hypersonic weapons to be mounted and fired in a way that increases the accuracy of the attack. Ah, fair enough. Logic approved (lol)
